It worked on my 08 just fine. Now I find myself going across parking lots fixing to hit the road and I do not have it on me. Thankfully the light still flashes to put your belt on.

    Got towed today.

I was on my way to work and was waiting at a red light right at the crosswalk. All of a sudden, I heard some noise from the engine compartment that sounded like flapping, hissing, and whining all at the same time. Well, the noise wasn't going way, so I had to take immediate action. The left arrow was still red, but the intersection was clear, so I ran the light and did an immediate U-turn to park. Fluid was pouring all over the asphalt.

While waiting for AAA, I did a cursory inspection, but I didn't really have time to investigate thoroughly. What I saw was a ton of fluid squirting out of a hose and possibly the serpentine belt all shredded. So what happened?

Well, today, I installed a new high output 250A alternator. So that meant I had to take tension off of the serpentine belt. I'm thinking that when putting it back together that the belt wasn't on a pulley correctly. While driving, the belt started to disintegrate and then the loose shreds damaged a fluid hose. I'm not exactly sure which hose and what fluid, but I'm thinking it's a power steering line. The fluid doesn't smell sweet like coolant and has an oily feel to it. It's mostly clear. Other than this, what other fluid lines would be at the front of the engine near the top?

Anyway, that's all for now. I'm currently at work and can't get into this problem until tomorrow. If anybody else has any ideas, I'm all ears. I'll try to fix it myself, but if the damage is too much, I'll just take it to the dealer and play dumb. After all, it's still under warranty.

First i was using the old plastic bag hanging off the shifter knob. Definitely not the move in a new truck. So I bought a 2 gallon garbage can and put said plastic bag in it and wedged it behind the passenger seat and presto! Garbage can mod!..... And sorry to hear about getting towed man, really wish I had a good solution for your problem.

Is your Tacoma 4x4? If so isn't that the wrong way to tow?
