Hello all. I have sad ordering news.

My guy (Autonation Austin inventory manager) just informed me that the 2016 Tacoma has not been loaded into the system yet, and is not going to be available on the 7 May allocation summary. He doesn't expect to have it available until around the 25th.

This is the universe testing my patience. Well, screw you Universe, I've been waiting since January.

The problem is that three weeks doesn't feel like anytime at all to the Universe.

Oh, and thanks for the update!

This is my first post here and I must say I feel like I have been waiting forever for this truck. Having been holding out replacing my 2003 Tundra TRD limited because it was always next year that they were finally coming out with the Gen 3 Tacoma. Well my Tundra is rattling and squeaking telling me it is time for a change. Looking forward to the new 2016 Taco.

my 15 year old Tundra 4x4 drives just fine............the motor oil is clean when you pull the dip stick after 275,000 miles
when I bought it new it was $26,500
    and my frame wasn't rusty

I think I'll just keep it

They need to produce million frames to replace on 2gen's and another million of engine wireharness.
Not to mention 2016 trucks they are testing probably already have a rust on the frame. :)

I was wondering if the frame recall had something to do with them not doing a clean sheet redesign. Can the "updated" frames for the 2016 work with the gen 2? Maybe it was done to facilitate recalls while producing frames for the Gen 3.

I did see 2016 frame in NY Auto show. Believe me you don't want this one either.

A frame isn't something you look at and go "wow, I don't want that frame." because it is mostly not visible. My original question is pretty legit though.

What's wrong with the new frame? Secondly, if anything is wrong with it, how would you know by looking at it?

My 06 sport 4x4 frame is just fine. But I do live in Arizona.

That said, I am looking forward to the 2016 model. I will most likely buy late in the 2016 model year or when the 2017 comes out.

I wouldn't call waiting for something not having a life, hell, chase your passions. Passions can be a blessing. But I wouldn't get their and wait either, like you I can wait. Not to mention I'm too frugal to buy something as soon as it goes into production. I think the only exception to that is a Tacoma because used isn't much cheaper.

Damn skippy. My dealership just unloaded a '12 TRD Sport 4x4 for $29K. Christ on a cracker, that's resale value.

It not the drivetrain on my truck that worries me. It is everything else that has issues over time. I,m from the Northeast and the underneath of my Tundra is rotting away. All the salt used here on the roads in winter plus I live near the ocean. Doing a number rust wise on my truck. I,ve been a good boy and waited long enough for a new Toyota. Can,t wait for the fall to get here. Now just have to decide on the limited or TRD off-road

Frame is still made like Origami which is what caused rust on my Truck. Simply if you weld metal where two sheets of metal are simply layered over each other you can not paint that area. Simple. You could paint it before but once you weld whatever paint you put will be gone.
Not to mention Auto Show truck had the same crappy paint on the frame my truck had originally ...
So not only design of the frame is crap, but also paint process is not adequate. Its possible they will do better job on production trucks but still, you can not paint with powder in between two sheets of metal. Not gonna happen even if you really really wanted.
