The same shit everyone else has.
I picked up used Bestop Supertop off of Craigslist today.

I installed it today to clean. I noticed it was leaking at a few of the seams across the roof after spraying it with the hose.

The leaks seem to be right at the seams where the cross bars are attached.

I want to seal all the seams, as well as the top itself. After some searching around and reading I came across this.

    Per Supertops Installation Instructions -

"Water: Seeping through at the seams may be stopped by applying 3-M Scotchgard® on the inside of the seams"

How many of you have sealed your Bestops or Softoppers? Have you used Scotchgard? If so, which one of their products? Or have your used something else?

    My thoughts -

I was thinking of using Aquaseal on the seams to seal the holes from the stitching. Ive had good luck fixing leaking waders with it. And I was thinking of spraying the rest of the inside of the top with the Scotchgard to add an extra bit of security.

    Your thoughts?

    Cheers

Never owned a Bestop but have sealed other things made of canvas and fabric I apply seam sealer on the inside of the seams and let it dry before instalation. That said, from just looking at the way the Besttops mount on the frame, I don't know if the seams can be well sealed. It looks like the seams stretch on the frame by design.

    Thanks for the input.

I pulled the trigger and ended up doing the seams I could see light through with some Aquaseal.

I did it this evening. Its drying right now. Its supposed to rain tomorrow afternoon. I guess well see how it works.
