Latest update, just ran some errands together in the Taco and she started great every time! Kinda like this: :quickdraw:

It's super consistent every single time, whether just running a minute or two ago, or 30 min, or 1 hr, or 4-5 hrs. Same crank time, every time. We are extremely happy :D

One of our errands was to Depot, just for grass seed. But then as we were walking down the lumber aisle, we realized, "WE HAVE THE TACO BACK! WE CAN HAUL STUFF AGAIN!!!" Fortunately we controlled ourselves from a spending spree, but it was an awesome reminder of what's to come in the near future...........summertime projects with the Taco working hard along with us!! :woot:

Just realized if 2 posts were deleted, my announcement of "happy days are here again" will be #3K. Searching for worthless posts now......

EDIT: Wow, that was easy! Didn't realize how much I blab about nothing on here. :D

And, it's official. #3K is now my jubilant announcement of all the awesomeness that is happening now. :)

Hell yeah, we're pretty glad too!! Beyond glad, we are over the top thrilled!!

Ha ha, that is awesome to hear that you and your buddies talk about it at work!! My buddy Matt in Illinois works at Caterpillar, and for the past 4 months, he's said this has frequently been their break time topic. I know it has pissed him off pretty badly at times, wanting so much to help us figure it out. Pretty crazy how this thing has spiraled out of control!!!!

We warned these guys that they'd be instant internet heroes among the Toyota fans if they figured this thing out. I think they thought we were kidding. We weren't. :D

And now it looks like we'll get to keep on keeping on exploring central, southern, and eastern Oregon in the Taco this summer, hurray!! Remind me of your best tips on the central/southern Oregon stuff to see and do in summertime?

Post #s are on the right, in pretty small font.

Thanks for the continued support buddy! :)

All I can say is glad it seems to be over.

A few years ago I had some work done by who I thought was a good vendor I paid way to much money and had to redo most of the work myself . I didn`t have the time and wanted a vehicle from down south.

I guess we all in our life have these lessons.

So when will you be buying a second Tacoma so you can have His and Hers ??

I highly recommend that. Wife and I both have 1st gen Tacoma. Its great only having to know how to work on 1 brand of vehicle.

I may have warrenteed parts, only to forget which truck the parts really were supposed go on to.

I guess the less to be learned HERE is to collect all the receipts on the work subcontracted out...I would still like to see the receipts on the head work...

Also, here is one more thought: did the bozos who "changed the engine" strip every good part OFF the truck and replace it with worn out parts lying around?

Wyoming and Koditten, I like your advice about getting a 2nd Taco. His and hers, that's pretty cool! We'll have Mr. and Mrs. Lovemytacolots! Although not sure if we'd be better off with an extra 1st gen Taco or a 3rd 4 Runner. Both have lots of appealing things about them, and parts seem to be interchangeable across the board. Would be nice to use that SUV for trips, rather than messing around with putting on the topper.

Yeah, not sure which though - 4 Runner or Taco?

I do however, know where I will have it serviced. :)

Koditten, I like your advice about the warrantied parts. Good one ;)

Yep. Wish I would have known it would be smart to ask him for a copy of our injector report when we paid him way back on 1/9. At that time though, I trusted what he was telling us about everything, so we didn't realize we should be thinking of things like that. I remember where he said they have their machine work done, from way back when I first called there in early December. He spoke highly of the place, plus Eric had taken his old Blazer's rotors to that same place ~10 yrs ago and liked their work. So not sure what went wrong with our engine exactly.

They certainly abused the Taco (and in turn, us) in plenty of ways, but we've covered those topics in detail on the thread plenty and I hate thinking about that stuff, it just pisses me off and makes me sad. I will share more gory details on how all of that pans out later when it's all said and done - kinda feel like I owe it to you guys, after you've all hung in there with us this long - I know I'd be curious how the $ part panned out if I was following a thread one of you wrote about a situation like this!

But for now, I'm ready to focus on happy stuff now, like the fact that my Taco seems to be FINALLY FIXED!! I know it's early in the week to get that excited, but we did a good amount of driving around and starting it yesterday morning and evening and it is just so consistent every time, it's getting harder and harder for me to imagine something heading south with it at this point. HURRAY!!!!! :)

Time to plan some road trips!! :)

EDIT: One more thing. From the beginning of the thread, one of my main reasons for keeping it going was in hopes of other people faced with engine failure in a vehicle they loved being able to learn from our regrets and maybe have a better experience than we did. For a while now, I kinda forgot about that goal I've had all along, to do some kind of closing summary talking about that part of it. It got to a point where I didn't know if it would ever truly be fixed, so there wasn't much to say in closing! But now it looks like I might get that chance to say, "It's OVER! Here's what we learned, what we wish we'd done differently, how the $ part shook out, etc. Best of luck to whoever is reading and going through the same miserable decision!" Makes me happy to think we can have that conclusion, finally, and other people might benefit from it. That post will be coming in the next few weeks I'm guessing, stay tuned :)

Oh yeah, another thing! Here's my latest and greatest idea that combines lots of cool stuff I love: how about I turn the Taco into a mobile bakery/food cart? I could paint the side "Lovemytacolots Bakery" !!! I could tow a trailer painted to look like a giant cinnamon roll :D, then bake them at home, load them up, and drive my Taco bakery on wheels around and sell them!! And start a website and do online sales too!! What do you guys think? We did come up with this idea after a few drinks last night, so I'm honestly not sure how good it actually is........

my personal belief is Jen bought a new engine and what she got was a junk yard pulled engine running as-is or with maybe some fresh rings and a hone job only. the whole thing with them smells to high heaven of fraud and deceit from start to finish

Alright, no more guys. Putting my foot down. I want to talk about the good stuff now.

No more wasting our time bashing them, we've done PLENTY of that. They just aren't worth our time. And they will get theirs, one way or another. Karma's a bitch. ;)

Let's focus on my super awesome Taco that is getting all geared up to work hard lugging our asses (and Dolly's!) all over the best backcountry Oregon has to offer all summer!!!!!!!!!!! :D

And haul our summer DIY project supplies!!

Now THAT'S something worth talking about!!

OK, everybody name your fave place (specific or in general) to drive your Taco. Ready, set, go!! :burnrubber:

And if you're familiar with (or better yet, from!) the Northwest, gimme your specific faves!! Always looking for new adventures to go exploring in the Taco!! :taco:

I like to drive my taco to:
Big'uns, where the women are hot and the beer is cold
Big'uns, where you can learn a lot, young or old
Big'uns, where a man is a man and the wife need not be told

I like the Bakery goods peddling trailer idea.

Now I can only go by what I have read about the quality of the said baked goods but it sounds like it might work.

The downside is when something you love now pays the bills it can become just another job once the pressure of dealing with vendors and deadlines. Is a every day thing.

I spend to much time in the real world at times !!!

It is nice having a Tacoma and 4Runner with the same engine.
