I am not a mechanic, but like to take care of my things and do a good job when I do it. I figure if I leave something undone, its going to come back at me sooner or later. I don't really ever plan on ever removing the bed, but knowing how bad that bed bolt is..... its driving me crazy knowing its still under there getting more and more corroded and unmovable.

I have a feeling the d-ring mod for the middle two bed bolts is going to happen, just so I have a reason to replace that bolt :)

This is what my frame looks like underneath. Im having it checked out friday. Above all those little rusty circles are splits/holes that are forming. About 5 in total and they are about 1.5 inches long

this entire process is just starting to get annoying. i asked the toyotadoesn'tcare guy about the gas.. and he agreed with my assessment. when i asked him to email me a copy of the conversation confirming what he said, he refused and claimed the info/conversation was proprietary to toyota and would only release the info only under court order.

it's great that they are replacing frames, but 6+ months to fix a defect. come on man. it's putting me more in the boat of not buying toyota going forward, tho to be fair, out side of the tacoma, there is nothing in their lineup that excites.

Don't feel so bad dropped mine of 12 Dec 2014 still no truck. called Toyota care and they told me 120 -180 days for frame. I got pissed and told them my lawyer will be contacting them about the money I'm missing out on doing weekend work because I don't have a truck. One thing I'm worried about they are giving me the new leaf springs under recall also. And said the truck will sit about factory. Maybe a bit higher. I don't have a huge lift only 1.75 on the 5100's what it going to look like. I asked for the add a leaf back they told me no they would not take the old ones apart. Rental is good but it's a loaner, enough said about that. Use imagination!!!!

if you don't like the loaner, ask for something better. i started in a camry, complained that i needed a truck to pick something up, currently in a 4 runner. which, while not a truck, still provides space to haul shit.

Called them twice dealer said they had nothing, I even called the day after a friend got his truck back and returned a RAV4 still told nothing. Corporate called me and told me dealer is given $35 a day to get us loaners. Trust me I have complained I think each time I do I drop down the waiting list. I wish they would offer a buy back, I would buy a tundra. Kids are getting bigger so are the bikes.need more room.

Got an interesting phone call from dealership. Due to your situation the regional manager would like swap out your loaner to something more suitable for your needs. They are picking up the tab for a truck or mid size rental from a rental place. I get it June 10. At least I'll be able to get some things done around the house I need to work on. This is really aggravating it's taking so long to a frame.

Has anyone looked into insurance on the rentals?? I realize that Toyota is paying for the rental - but I think your truck insurance is covering the rental?? However, Last I read was that your insurance covers the rental - but not loss of use. For example you get in an accident and smack up the rental real good. Your insurance pays for the repair - but the rental company loses many weeks of rental income that they will be looking for. Or am I looking that this wrong??

Only because I told them I would tie two duffel bags to the roof and the ruck sack and cooler in the trunk on my annual training event to Virginia.

If they start doing buy backs now im going to be pissed because i would have done that over getting it replaced and the hassle i went through. I could have easily been persuaded into a new vehicle.

I went by to see my truck yesterday. Asked them if I could take it a put fresh fuel in it to help prevent problems. They told me sure. I drove that baby like I stole it. Kid in a candy store. Probably put 45 miles on it on my "trip to get gas". It did present me the opportunity to fill it up with 13 gallons of shell high test along with some stabilizer and a bottle of gum out. Feel a little better about letting it sit longer. It won't stop me from driving it once a week. Oh and I'm calling Toyota corp about this damn wait. Ridiculous.

I don't give a shit about documenting whether or not they gave me permission to drive my truck. All I care about is maintaining the mechanical components during this long ass wait.

The hard drive on my computer went out. All I have is my iPad and iPhone and that's to much like work. Male emblem it will remain. For now.
