Very true. I am tired of the critics stating that the new Colorado is far superior to the Tacoma, just because of a few extra interior pieces.

Yeah but the thing I've noticed over the years is that most negative reviews of the tacoma complain about things like "a firm truck like ride on the road" or a lack of interior bells and whistles. They always expect them to drive and feel like a plush luxury sedan... well news flash it's a truck! And I bought my taco because I wanted a truck and enjoy it's simplicity.

I don't know but I have to say, My 2015 Tacoma rides plush enough for me. It more than meets my expectation for ride comfort...

I agree with you. I would be happier if mine were as simple as the '85 Toyota I had. The majority of consumers apparently want all the bells and whistles, long term reliability be cursed.

Nowadays you either pay for creature comforts with bells and whistles, or durability. I bought my truck because if it's good enough for offroading in every third world country across the globe, then it's good enough for me.

Oh I agree completely, I Love the ride of my tacoma and people often comment on how smooth it is (I also have OME suspension on mine). Plus I'm even happier with the ride when I get it on trails. I think the reviews go the way they do these days because a large portion consumers don't really need/want a proper truck, they want something comfortable that they can drive to work and have a bed for their trip to home depot on the weekend... eg honda ridgeline (I tried to find a vomiting smiley but there isn't one)

I'll just keep driving what I like and not worry about consumer reports, they should probably stick to washing machines and refrigerators anyway. I prefer my toyota truck reliability.

I purchased my 2015 Taco last Saturday afternoon. I had owned a 2012 2.7 AC. Before I visited the Toyota dealer I stopped by my local Chevy dealer and test drove a Colorado that was very similar to the Taco that I purchased later. The Colorado had much more modern electronics and I did like the way it looked. The Colorado V6 has more HP than the 4.0 Taco but to me it just did not seem to have the get up and go that I expected and it did have more engine noise in the cab than the Taco that I purchased. I do like the handling and the way the Taco drives over the Colorado. My 4.0 DCSB Prerunner cost me $4600 less than the Chevy dealers best price on the Colorado even with the GM military discount and a USAA 750 discount.
In the Atlanta market, Chevy dealers are selling the Colorado's very fast. Who knows how long that will last.

    Their reviews are a joke.

The ride comments are lame for sure. If anything Toyota has sacrificed too much truck performance trying to achieve a car like ride. But people have very valid complaints when it comes to what should be basic interior ameneties in todays day and age. Toyota could add simple things like blue tooth and lighted swithches for next to no cost and that would go a long way toward making it seem like the design isnt outdated. Its stupid and short sighted that they don't. And don't even get me started on the piss poor frame rustproofing or the completely worthless rear leaf springs. They have no excuse whatsoever for those faults.

In some ways I agree with you, about small amenities like lighted switches. However, I know of no other manufacturer that would have gone to the lengths Toyota did in replacing and making right on rusty frames. I cant even imagine what that cost Toyota. Every manufacturer has an issue once in a while, but its what they do to make it right that speaks to me!

    Same as everybody else...
I own a 16 year old Ranger that has been pretty much bullet proof. I decided several months ago that I was getting to the point of having to replace her. I did lots of research, I even talked to owners of Frontiers, Tacos, F150 and even a guy at work with a new Colorado. I just bought a 09 Taco DC V6 Prerunner. It is absolutely base, no cruise, backup camera,I don't even see intermittent wipers. To me it's perfect, the ride is car like compared to the Ranger.I bought the truck that will last and haul my stuff, I think I have that with this Tacoma
