I put a similar thread in the 3rd Gen forum but think I might get more responses here. What is the difference in how the TRD off-road beefed up suspension models drive on the street vs the non beefed up suspension models. For instance I beleive the limited model is supposed to drive better on the regular paved streets and the TRD off road is made to perform better off road driving with some trade off on paved streets. Curious for experience with this or just plain thoughts on the matter. Why would one be better on paved roads than the other. Thanks in advance.

My 15 DCSB TRD off-road rides like a dream. Best ride I've ever felt and I've had/driven a lot of vehicles

My TRD Off Road seems to ride a little stiffer on the highway but it is worth it when driving off road. This comparison is to my Pre Runner.

It'll be totally impossible to get feedback that'll have any relevance to you and what you expect. Why?

Because everyone comes from differences in vehicles they've driven. Someone who's used to driving a 20 year old farm truck VERSUS someone who's used to driving a Luxury SUV VERSUS someone who's used to driving a econo car. They all ride differently. Not only that...but they're not all built the same or have the same capabilities.

A truck...is a truck... and needs a 'stiff' suspension to support towing & hauling. A 'Stiff suspension' could mean different things to different people. Ultimately.... all tacomas have similar spring rates because they have similar towing/hauling capabilities. Are you really & truly gonna be able to tell that one truck rides softer than the other??
But then again, I've been driving trucks for too many years. My 'ass-meter' is probably broken. I can't even tell the difference between my truck & my husbands totally new Infinity SUV. ;)

The only way you're going to find out which truck feels right FOR YOU - is actually drive them in your area on your roads. Drive the TRD Offroad, Drive the TRD Sport, Drive the non TRD versions.

I had a 2011 PreRunner and it rode good. Bought a 13 4x4 OR and I could immediately tell the difference. It rode much better. That said... I'm getting ready to replace the entire suspension with Icon's so that might change.

I have a hard time telling the difference between the OR and Sport suspension, but they are both better to me than the SR5.

Now, 5100s, OME coils, and General HD springs are an inexpensive combination that made mine ride incredibly well for a truck.

    I have owned a 2011 TRD Sport
and now own a 2013 Limited (Sr5 Suspension).

I preferred the Sr5 suspension over the TRD suspension quite a bit... But that never lasts long as once the trucks are lifted its a different story.
