I'm getting a new four cylinder Tacoma next month. Never had one before though I had a 1985 Nissan 4x4 with a 2.4 I think it was.

Anyway, what rpms do you run at then you're highway driving say at 80 km ph (50 mph) or 100 (62 mph) ?

I think I always stayed below 3000 rpm with that 4 and also with my next truck a V6 Nissan.

Mine's the stick shift six lug, so 4.10 axle ratio and probably the highest rpm combo for the four cylinder. Automatics have a taller overdrive.

50 mph is around 1800 rpm, 62 mph would be around 2300 or so, and 70 mph is in the neighborhood of 2700 rpm. Drop to 4th gear at 70 mph and it's around 3300 rpm.

The new truck's speedo might be *way* off though, so be sure to check with GPS. Mine was super far off with stock P245/75-R16 tire size and speedo gear (77mph indicated = 70 actual). With the new N30 gear it's better but still not accurate (74mph indicated = 70 actual). However the N30 gear made the odometer spot on, so it made calibrating the ultragauge's speedometer a breeze.

At 110k or 70mph I'm around 2700 or something in first gear the final drive in the 5spd is suuuuper tall don't usually hit it until 80 ish k. If you're wondering about the rpm cause of milage I wouldn't worry even with all the weight I've been adding to my truck it doesn't even feel it. Sill hitting 600 km per tank highway in town is less but meh
