After three years of ownership my 2012 DCSB has a crack in the windshield- middle bottom part and a quarter-size dent.

I'm going to wait until camping season is over before replacing the original windshield, might get more rock strikes or hold out until I leave Alaska this time next year.

The dent / divot is located on the passenger side, second row, where the bottom part of OEM roof rack meets the metal. Not sure how long it been there since I stare at my truck sometimes like I'm in a trance. It appears that something heavy fell or struck it.

I know it's "just a truck" and I'll probably get more. As far as I'm concerned as long as there is nothing wrong with it mechanically I am doing alright.

Just thought I would share this and now I will go on my way.

Unfortunately, it looks like that crack is going to move right into your field of vision. That's a traveler. Don't feel bad, I'm on my third windshield.

I just had a rock fly up the other day and put a crack in my windshield. I had several chips, some real bad, and kept saying I'd wait to do the windshield until it got worse. Now I have an excuse.

I had a crack develop in that exact spot on mine. Luckily I saw it when it was 3 inches so drove over to Safe lite and had it repaired. Funny thing is I don't remember ever being hit with a rock in that location.

I have a dent from a rock too on my roof just above the windshield. I think I'm gonna bite the bullet on some paintless dent removal this summer. At this point I've collected 3 or 4 dings (all small) that I'd consider worth fixing so I'll just have them all done at once. But the one above the windshield bothers me the most, it had to be a sniper shot of a rock to miss the windshield and get the leading edge of the roof. It's not a very big target.

Do you all think my dent is a candidate for paint less dent removal or not?

My insurance gives me a new windshield if a rock or something flies up and cracks it.

I think that one would be fine, it doesn't look like there's any creasing or cracked paint. I was looking around on PDR places websites the other night and was pretty amazed at some of the before and after pics on nasty things I never thought PDR could fix.

The paint did crack and flake off. That pic is after I used touch up paint.

Ah I dunno then, that'd be a question for a paintless dent repair guy, or someone that's actually gotten it done. You might still be ok. here's the website for the local place I was looking at the other night. The before and after pics are on the homepage:

I think I remember reading that for paintless dent repair the dent had to be at least 4" away from any body line, edge or crease. Don't quote me on that though.
