i have searched and keep seeing different things...
i'm installing my 3 inch lift this week and have a set of 285/70/r17 nitto terra grapplers that i want to put on the truck... now my question is am i going to need to do much, if any, cutting? i also have a set of spacers for the front if that will help (i think they ar 1" but they may be 1.25 or 1.5 dont remember). i want to find out as much as possible before i have the tires swapped out to avoid possible damages and waste money having to put stock tires back on.... thanks

You will need spacers. Other then that you should be fine with minor trimming.

Super is right, but just remember that it is possible that you will have to do a cab mount chop. I have 265s and eat my cab mount hard, but that's because I have LR UCAs.

At the end of the day, how much and what you rub is rather different for every vehicle, as well as different tire profiles. Just expect to trim some extent of plastic (definite), and maybe the cab mount. The plastic is probably nothing that you couldn't do with a razor blade, and if you do it right, it won't look bad.

I would put spacers on the back just to keep everything even. And every trucks different, some need to trim more than others. Most people remove mud flaps.

Also you can max your caster to help make room at cab mount. You should be fine without cmc unless you plan to do some serious offroading.

And just as a fair warning, at 3" of lift your alignment is going to be a tough fight to get "right," that is, if you can even get it reasonably right. If you max out your caster, your camber is going to suffer. It's a trade-off. Camber and Toe are what determines proper tire wear, and the further those two are from 0, the faster your tires are going to wear improperly. On the other hand, if your caster numbers are pretty low, the truck is going to wander over the road, and you'll experience bump steer. The solution to that would be aftermarket upper control arms, but don't really worry about that until you get the lift on and realigned.

Not trying to scare you or discourage you, it's just the reality of putting on a lift. There are things that will be affected that can potentially require attention to get right, like the alignment. Again, just get the lift on and go from there!:woot:
