So I was driving on the highway yesterday and I heard a noise on the passenger side of the roof and saw something fly away in the rear view mirror. You guessed it! The roof trim came off while driving. Now I thought this would be a perfect situation to put the OEM roof rack on my truck, but after looking at tutorials on this board I have found that there is no indication of the location of pre-threaded holes. It looks like some sealant or something was put down in the channel and completely painted over. I have a 2013 TRD Offroad DCSB. Anyone have any ideas or measurements of the hole locations?

The holes are there. They're just covered with the sealant which is applied before the truck is painted. If you push on the sealant a little with your finger and you'll find the location of the holes. I used a new Exacto knife to cut the sealant and paint from around the holes. The OEM roof rails/rack kit comes with neoprene O-rings to put over the holes after you cut them out to keep the water out. Now that I think of it, I believe that the rack comes with instructions that tell you all this. Anyways, it's not hard to do at all. Have fun!

I have a set on order, but they are on the slow boat from somewhere. I was given like a week and a half ETA. I'll update when I get them on. May even take pictures and measurements incase anyone has this problem in the future.

Ohh. I thought you had them already. Yeah man. Good thinking. How-to write ups are always a plus.

Well... I got the roof rack installed. The package arrived earlier than expected, but it took 2 days between time off work. I am the second owner of this truck, and I have a sneaking suspicion the roof may have been re-painted. The roof ditch, as you can see in the first post, had some sort of foam tape running the length of the ditch that was painted over. The kicker, and why it took so long to install the rack, is the layer of epoxy underneath the tape. As my luck would have it I had to drill the epoxy out of 7 of the 10 holes in the roof. None of them were completely filled in, which is good because I would probably never have found them if they were. Needless to say it was a very frustrating process and I did not end up documenting anything.

All done around 10 pm! I plan on washing the truck and taking better pictures tomorrow assuming the weather holds out. The looks are still growing on me. I guess I'll probably have to get a lightbar now huh? That will be a project for when I have more disposable income.

Mine had the epoxy painted over also. I doubt that yours has been repainted. From the looks of the first pic you posted, it looked exactly like mine did.

Well I suppose that makes me feel better about it all. It was still a pain. I did get some pictures today during a wash though.
