You don't mention if you want to off road or not, so I'm going to assume it's for on road use. You'll get many opinions on this, but I don't think you can go wrong with Michelin LTX M/S 2 tires.

I think that they offer the best for all seasons with Michelin quality. The price may be high, but you get what you pay for. I'm currently running some BFG's that were on my truck when I bought it, but I don't off road, but I do travel up over the Sierra's during the winter so a good all season is all I need. So my next set will be the Michelin's. Good luck as you have now opened Pandora's box. I hope that this has helped you.

x2 on the LTX's. I put 40k miles on a set, and they still looked like they had 50% tread. I sold 'em for $100, which funded the mounting and balancing of my KM2's. The Michelin's were quiet, wore evenly, and performed well for light off-roading. If only they made them in 35's...

Shoot, yeah I guess offroading or not is important. I would probably need the best of both world because I do go offroad often.

I'm very satisfied with the BFG Rugged Terrains for on and off road.No these aren't the BFG Rugged Trails that everyone calls the Rugged Fails!

I've got 50k and some change on my rugged trails that came with my 01 when I bought it and they still have 1/3 tread left easy.

That's good to hear!I've never had the Rugged Trails. It just seems like a high percent of TW members don't speak highly of them quality and longevity wise.

Yea I've heard terrible things about them but I don't wheel! They do tend to slip at the boat ramp though sometimes hahha

LOL!I can understand that.Apparently Toyota seems to think that that's the tire to continue to put on the factory TRD OFF ROAD models.Wonder if that will change for the 3rd generation Tacoma's that will soon be available.

Im running the stock bfg tire on my prerunner. Cant remember what the name is. Somewhere around 60-70k on the tires, and they are also 6 year's old. Just starting to hit the fist wear marks.. Ive never run a different tire. This is my third set in 11 years. I know, im boring!!

I just got a set of St Maxx in 255/85/16 and so far love them, very predictable offroad and absolutely no road noise except for a very subtle purr if you corner at high speed. Nice and grippy!

"I don't think you can go wrong with Michelin LTX M/S 2 tires." x3 I've run these for the last 10 years on a variety of vehicles and am totally sold on them for an all around light truck/SUV tire. Not a snow/ice or true all-terrain tire, but great for most situations in everyday use.
