My dog lays in my truck seat a lot. No problem until now. He evidently rolled in something rather nasty. The Tacoma seat now smells the same way. I find nothing helpful in the manual. Previous Tacomas I have owned said not to use chemicals on the fabric seats. My book says nothing about it. I would appreciate the help Going on a long trip next week, and, well, the wife will be sitting over there.
    Thanks Jim Cope

You could try one of the commercially available odor removers (available at pet supply stores). I've had good results with Natures Miracle brand. While there, get a seat protector. They attach at the top (around the headrest posts) and drape down to cover both the seat and seat back. That way, when the muddy or stinky dog gets in, the cover gets dirty, not the actual seat fabric. You can wast the cover too. Cheap ones available at pet stores. Really fancy ones available at LL Bean or Orvis.

iflyboing, appreciate you info. I have been reluctant to use chemicals because the previous Tacoma I had said not to. I shall try your recommendation. I really like your suggestion of using a cover. I doubt I will be able to keep my blue heeler out of "his" truck, or out of stinky stuff he rolls in.
    Thanks again

It's their way of getting out of any damage you may cause in so doing by saying, 'hey, we told you not to'.

It doesn't mean you can't, shouldn't or that everything creates harm.

You've gotten great advice on what and how to reduce future risk. I'd just add that you can test a product on an inconspicuous area of the seat if you want to be double sure it's ok. But most vet sold stuff can even be used on upholstered home furnishings.

    May the stink be gone!
