I don't need a diesel. Most don't. It's nice for towing but you'll want a full size truck for that anyway. I'd like a small diesel for mileage reasons but even if it gets 10-20% better mileage, diesel costs 10-20% more where I live so it's not really a gain at all. I'd take a 2016 tacoma over either diesel midsize GM.

I've never had a diesel vehicle. Those i know who do have them stand by them.I personally don't like the new 3rd gen Tacoma that will soon be on showroom floors.I don't know all the specs yet i just think the exterior and interior are ugly.I'm sure eventually it will grow on me.I know there are an overwhelming amount of TW members and Toyota owners who would like to see a Tacoma diesel available someday.I love my 2012 Tacoma but if there was no way around it and i had to make a decision i would go with the 3rd gen Tacoma even though i think its ugly cosmetic and apperance wise.Toyota knows there reliability and obviously they have a plan in order to continue to do so with there specific vehicle models in how they design them.

Big tires, big lift, Lots of stuff's.
What are your goals with a truck? If hauling anything with any sort of weight Id look at a tundra or a diesel. I put grew my tacoma and 3rd gen 4Runner and have a 1/2 ton now. I will be going with a diesel soon though. But if you're not pulling with them the added costs to maintain the diesel is not worth it IMO.

I love my Tacoma more. Look at GMs record, I'd be insane to trade a dependable truck for something that might catch fire cause it's too cold out or who knows what.

There's no hard numbers out for any of the mentioned vehicles... I don't think anyone can make a solid conclusion until then.
