just about to do my first oil change and wondering if I don't remove the plates, will oil just spill all over the skid plates? Not sure if it will just pour straight down or what. Then again maybe I'm tripping lol. On my 95 mustang I remove both plugs and one is at front of pan it's horizontal so ofcourse it's going to come out at an angle. I'm about to go ahead and see...........:)

well you need to use a 2 liter bottle cut to fit to create a trough to redirect the oil. if you get creative and get used to it its not a problem but often you make a terrible mess the first few times.

I took my skid plates off and sold it so oil changes are easy peasy now with no mess. I don't go off road and there is no snow here so there is no need for me to have a skid plate short of running over a dog with my truck.

actually was quite easy and only mess pretty much came from the oil filter as I loosened it and even that wasn't much. I will see how it looks without the skid plates and might just remove them though it wasn't bad at all really. I wiped up the excess drips and after I was done I pulled the truck in the garage to finish filling it up on level surface. No drips at all on cement. The little bit of residual oil I guess aint bad enough to drip :)

I looked at the belts and they all look fine but are they hard to change out/ to get to to change out?

depends on the engine you have but there is more to it the American cars, you have to turn an adjusting screw to tension the belt before you tighten the pulley bolt to lock it in place. its no big deal and not hard to do but getting it set just right might take a second try sometimes. also you have to remove the lower radiator shroud so the belt has room to slip over the pulleys.

look on youtube and they have videos that show you plus there is a thread on here that explains it. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-thread-compiled-list-of-helpful-links.95271/

just don't forget to loosen the pulley bolt before turning the adjuster bolt. lots of people strip it or break it of and then discover the pulley bolt has to be loose the let it adjust lol. the price of learning is sometime hard :facepalm:myself I wish the used spring tensioners for then so you don't have to worry about adjusting it too loose or too tight. if you do mess it up, sourcing a replacement can be hard and I bet new oem is expensive as with most things bought from Toyota dealer

After dropping the first oil cap onto the tool catcher off it came thrown onto the scrap pile.

They are shields at best anyone who thinks of them as a skid plate will be a little surprised
