Alpine CDE-HD149BT or Metra Dash Kit compatibility problem?

The screws in the back that held the original radio go in just fine, but now the kit isn't set in right. All the wires were pushed to the back and I'm pretty sure they aren't the problem. This alpine radio has been installed in other 2nd gen tacos so it isn't that it's too long.

I also have a question about the TOYUSB that retains the factory USB plug, how does it connect to the factory plug? If you have it installed please post up a picture, I think it's going to be one of those things that's going to make me feel really dumb that I didn't figure it out in the first place.

So looks to me as you might be using the wrong holes in the side of the HU. Try taking the Alpine back out and see if there are alternates in the side. I also see you are using the plastic mounting arms that come with the kit, ditch those and remove the metal OEM ones that are installed on the factory HU. Install the HU in the dash then just pop the metra kit over top.

 

The OEM bracket arms were perfect! That solved a lot of heartache, so the next thing that's giving me trouble is since I'm not using the plastic mounting arms, the "pocket" has nothing to attach to..
