I think a Tacoma is a sweet 4x4. But a F150 does a lot of "truck" things a lot better than a Tacoma.
Besides, isn't a F150 more comparable to a Tundra not a Tacoma? If anything you could say the F150 is cheap and the Tacoma is overpriced, regardless of the "great deal" argument going on.

Tacoma is rated as a 1/2 ton truck if you looking to haul heavy loads you should have gotten a 3/4 ton full size truck or upgrade the suspension or airbags on the Taco. If I were looking for a heavy hauler I would have done my research before dropping the $$$,then complaining after the fact:tinfoilhat:

can u tell us a little more info on what year? engine?tranny? on the Ford because this truck could make the Ford hall of fame. One in a million if true. I say this because where I work we had E150 Ford vans auto trans. 6 cylinders that were on life support at 150k miles after a lifetime of incessant repairs just to keep them on the road, all highway miles.

Before I got my Tacoma, my F150 had 275k on it with just normal wear and tear maintenance items replaced. I would not hesitate to purchase another. Like with everything, take the time to do proper preventive maintenance and today's trucks last a very long time.

Fords blow, end of thread. I don't even know why this is a topic. Good luck with your truck- I hope your mechanic enjoys driving it as much as you do.

Why would I care to read every post about POS Ford's? Ford fan boys are just as bad.
    Ford's blow. Easy as that.

    Have a nice day. :)

I drive both. I own an 05 Tacoma and I just got a new 2015 F-150 company truck. The F-150 is a 5.0L 4WD extended cab SXT which I'm guessing is about middle of the road options-wise. It's slightly more cushy and quiet on long freeway trips than my Tacoma but it only averaged 16 mpg. The handling is floaty like my grandma's 83 Lincoln Town Car. feels slightly faster than my Tacoma with the A/C off, but with the A/C on, it weirdly feels much more gutless than my Tacoma does with the A/C on. I think either truck would be pretty annoying to drive if it was towing 4 or 5 thousand pounds. The F-150 also has wimpy-looking 3 leaf packs that squat badly just from sitting on the tailgate or getting into the bed. No, I'm not a fat bastard. The dimensions of the F-150 are absurd. I am over 6' tall with work boots on and I can barely reach over the bedside. If I need something out of the delta box I have to climb into the bed to reach it. I have to angle my head way down when i'm getting in the cab or i'll hit it on the roof. Don't get me wrong, I am quite happy to have a new company truck, but I still prefer my tacoma.

It's nice to see a level-headed perspective from someone who has and drives both. No consideration given to value or dependability - just comfort and function.

The sad part is, I've never heard of him going off road, camping, mud'n or anything where 4WD is needed.

If I got a full size truck, I'd have to expand the driveway.:annoyed:
