i live in Concord, CA right now. east bay area.

i "like" it alright. my wife just recently got a job in Santa Rosa. the commute is not going well with her. i can transfer to an office up there fairly easily, so i think it's gonna happen. sell my home (sucks), and buy a different home (more suck).

how's life up there in Sonoma County? i love the pig hunting at Lake Sonoma..i drink wine, what else?

any mid level neighborhoods you suggest i peek at? any neighboring city worth noting? i know very little about that area.

Lived in Sonoma County for 5 years going to college. Loved every minute of it and would move back in a heartbeat. My buddy currently lives in Santa Rosa and I've spent some significant there too, but by no measure am I an expert. One suggestion is maybe stay away from the Roseland area as he has a house over there and it can get sketchy sometimes.

Also, I don't know your price range or what kind of neighborhood you're looking for... but if you go a further up Hwy 101 like north east Santa Rosa there are some crazy quality houses- Serious $$$ though. (Fountain Grove Area)

Let me know I can get you more information too.
