thats a 5 lug strut assembly. even if you adapted 6 lug struts it could bind on the uca. more of a headache than its worth

I didnt realize how short and fat the coils on a 5-lug were compared with a 6-lug, and then how that geometry played into the UCA.

I really dont think a top hat missmatch is that big of a deal, the top hat simplely provides down pressure it doesnt really so much else. I plan to look further into this, mainly just get my friends Tacoma and take some pictures take it apart and probably just put it back together as it was. He wants to know more about his truck and I am going to help him, so I am going to be working on it anyway, might as well take some pictures and check it out, just to confirm that it is a bad ideal. I also have my old 6-lug suspension sitting in my garage collecting dust.

In the mean time, what are the options other than the top plate Fat Bob spacer lift for a 5-lug that will give 1 to 3 inches of lift in the front, basically want to stay away from new UCA or LCA. The back is easy new AAL and then the used shocks from my 6-lug TRD, maybe some new U-bolts.

Could someone provide me with a diy installation guide on how to install the fat bob's 2.75" lift kit on a 05' Tacoma access cab with 5 lug wheels? I purchased the kit and would like to research pointers and instructional guides on how to do a complete install of these on my truck. If there is no guide, could someone who has installed these give me a quick guide on what tools i'll need and any tips on things they had trouble with. I've heard it's a bit challenging so i want to prepare myself

    Thanks in advance dudes!

Check out the ready lift video on Youtube, it gives a full step by step guide on how to take everything apart and install.
Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7w_Hg8JoKLY I have the same exact truck as yours and I followed the Readylift video on Youtube and it helped a lot. Also, if you go in either Fatbob's Garage website or the Ready Lift website under our lift kit, both have a PDF instruction on how to install the kit with pictures and torque specs.

Tools you'll need are metric wrenches, spring compressor, torque wrench, breaker bar, metric deep set sockets, socket adapters, jack, jack stands and a impact driver will help a lot. Make sure you give yourself a large time window just in case you run into any snags. Also WD-40 your bolts before removing to help ease them out. That's all I can think of, just study the video, print out the PDF instructions and go knock it out!

This is more of a curiosity, for those who have asked about a budget friendly lift for the 5 luggers, because I have a 6 lugger:

Could you all potentially take the stock 6 lug knuckles, struts, etc from the guys who get the 6" lifts?
Then use the stock leaf packs and struts from the guys who do the Old Man Emu lift with Dakar leaf packs?
A ton of the 6 luggers upgrade their UCAs and have no use for the stock UCAs.

Basically, my question boils down to whether you could piece together a full suspension from others on Tacoma World who've upgraded their 6 luggers and theoretical gain the stock height of our trucks.

Got my fat bobs installed a week ago with the longer add a leaf. My question is how long does it take for the extra leaf to conform to the other ones? There is spacing between my new ones and my old ones. Because right now my rear sits higher than the front and i want it to level out.

The guy at Fat Bob's told me the rear may sit a little higher at first until the truck has been loaded a couple of times. The AAL is a stronger spring with a greater arch that is giving you the lift. If it conformed to the radius of the old springs you wouldn't have any lift. The idea is for the AAL to make the other springs conform to its radius. I wouldn't think they would ever fully conform to where you would have no gap, but according to FB it will settle a little bit. This is my first rodeo with these so I'm sure some of the other guys can elaborate more on this. I just installed my lift Monday and have worked long days since then. I can't really tell mine is sitting higher. My driveway is on a hill, so I hope to get it on some level ground soon, do some measurements, and get some after pics to post. So far I've been really happy with it.

I happen to be very interested in this idea as well. it seams it would be possible i wonder what the width of the 6 lug UCA is... and weather or not it is possible..

    My "Passive-aggressive" project.

The usual Readylift SST formula with Bilstein 4600/5100's, 16" aftermarket rims, with LT225/70R16's on 'em. I'll replace the rubber with a little bit bigger, once these shoes are worn out.
