Salt Protection

^Preventative. After four winters, I had some rust at the welds (e.g. the cab mount just behind the front wheels). The rest of the frame was still in good shape. I paid $199 at the time, same cost as the "rustproofing service" they usually try to push when you buy a new car.

 

Got it - that's pretty good! Maybe I'll just go with that too. How long did the keep your truck for the work?

 

Total process took about an hour. Since I was paying, the mechanic had no problems with me witnessing the whole thing and telling him where to spray (and where to avoid).

 

How long have you been doing this? Truck completely rust free?
