    Yes.
This just moves the stresses to the ends of the gussets because the bottom tube will flex, causing additional stress at the gusset point.

This is entirely possible, and I know a LOT of folks run these sliders. As a result I suspect they work great. I just hadn't previously noticed what can only be described as a design flaw and couldn't shut off my "things are supposed to be right" part of my brain.

Carry on, nothing to see here other than an eccentric radio operator.

    Yes.
BTW, virtually all sliders are still far more protective than my "I have nothing at all at the moment" :)

I would like to see actual evidence of this gusset location causing failure on somebody's rock sliders. With the spec size of material most vendors are using I cannot image there being enough force to cause that kind of failure on rock sliders

SOS has the same gusset location. Suspect it's a case of 'it's plenty of support for the application', but I'm just guessing here. In other news, I picked up my SOS sliders and started the painting process.

Finished installing the lift last night. Not quite done yet but it's sitting on it's own weight 4 inches taller. Maxtrac up front and allpro standards with 5100's in the rear. I got exactly 4 inches front and rear.

How is the top? I really like these soft tops. Are they pretty easy to drop to use the bed?

So far I really like it. Takes no time at all to drop it down, putting it back up on the other hand is a different story. Each time I learn a new trick so putting the windows back on and getting it tight is getting easier
