Did Toyota change the design of their crush washers recently? The last few received from the dealership loosened up and were leaking oil. At first I thought the drain bolt wasn't torqued properly but on the next oil change, I made sure it was plenty tight. I remember that they used to be blue on one side but the new ones are black on both sides.

I decided to switch to the Nissan crush washers I had left over from a Frontier I used to own. The seal is much better and after 3000 miles there are no leaks. The part number is: 11128A http://www.courtesyparts.com/11128a...u-1998-2004-p-58770.html?cPath=2129_7649_9121&

Strange, I have never had one to leak. I am partial to the older solid brass type, which I never replaced. I reused the one on my wife's old Camry for 187,000 miles and changed the oil every 3000 miles.

That Nissan looks to be a brass crush washer, Is it brass?

Missed read the title to stuck washer. My friends rsx type s ways seems to fuse the washer to the bolt. Every oil change we need to bang it off with two screwdrivers and a hammer. But I'm getting off topic.
Never have I used a new washer in the past 5 years of oil changes, with no leaks. Yes I'm too cheap to buy a new one because Toyota never included one with the filters I bought nor did the eBay seller I bought bulk filters from....my friends Honda dealer always includes a washer with oil filter tho. :crapstorm:

OEM engine oil drain plug gasket part number is 90430-12031

The following(URL at bottom of post) work just fine and are available at many mass marketers like O'Reilley's. I've lined them up with the OEM part above and I see no difference. 3 part numbers show up at the Dorman URL below. 2 are the same - the only difference being the count-per-package. I asked Dorman what was the difference between the 2 unlike part numbers since their specs were the same? Their reply follows and is in bold:

They are all the same parts.

We sell these under different lines and it would depend on which line the particular seller wants to stock.

But they are all exactly the same.

    Thank you

Same here minus the 33 year part. I just reuse what's up there and never had one drip either. Nice find though on a new alternative for those who may be interested.

Your crush washer is sitting in wrong direction. The crush is what sits between washer and drain hole. At least in the picture below it is sitting in wrong direction.

Just switch it out with a Fumoto drain valve next oil change. I've been using them for many years. I never go off-roading but they even make a new style valve for those that do.

^This^ it's upside down in the picture. Lol
I hate those stupid Nissan washers... They're such a pain in the ass to get off the plug when u want to change it. I prefer the Toyota ones and I've never had one leak.

I usually use a new crush washer with no issues. I've reused crush washers many times with no issue. I just installed a Fumoto valve yesterday during my 15K oil change. First time using the Fumoto. I have an RCI skid that protects the Fumoto valve so I'm not too worried about it. And I do go off road. I put the OEM drain bolt and washer in a mini zip lock baggie, labeled it, and put in the glove box just in case. Going to Moab on Monday so we'll see how well the Fumoto holds up but I'm not expecting any issues as they've been around a LONG time now and I've never heard a complaint yet.

The washer is made out of copper. The metal ones are nice since they hold up better over time. On my Frontier I would change it once a year and never had the drain bolt loosen up or leak.

Same here, 33 years thereabouts as well, with a dozen different vehicles or more. Never changed a washer and never had any leak from the oil plug. The economy being what it is, just something else to convince you is mandatory to replace. Kind of like spark plugs every 30K and many other examples.
