How? Your core is on the edge of coming out of there prime. Not to mention your defense is average and it's starting to expose how weak the Wings are in goal. The puck procession numbers are great but without the right players scoring key goals in those 2-1 games the Wings like to play that system won't work. Unless 2-3 players step up to replace the falling output of Datsyuk and Zetterberg I don't see it.

Not to mention that Detroit as a city is broke and the arena is a dump. Blindly faithful fans will turn away at some point if ownership doesn't start pumping more money into the building.

I remember when Federov and Shanahan and Yzerman were on their way out, there was the same worry. The great secret in Detroit is player development. There's players coming up. Pullkinen, Mantha, Larkin, Ferraro, Bertuzzi, too many to list..players already in Tatar, Nyquist, Sheahan, and more coming off break out seasons, Helm and Abdelkader..goaltending future looks bright in Mrazek and good trade bait with monster (if he can stay off IR) the only real weakness is like you say defense, but I get the feeling Holland is already working on that..

Something along the lines of the 650 million dollar entertainment district and new arena they've broke ground on and will be finished for the 16-17 season?? That the kind of money pumping you're talking about?

Tater didn't seem all that interested at the end of the year. Nyquist is still unknown and if you are going to rely on Helm and Abdelkader for scoring then you will be disappointed.

Federov burned out and Shanahan and Yzerman were replaced by studs like Zetterberg and Datsyuk. The thing is that even back then a lot of pundits were talking about how Datsyuk had the skill to dominate and Zetterberg was mentioned right behind him I'm not hearing those reviews of Tatar and Nyquist. You just don't get a Datsyuk in the system very often, I don't think anyone in the system will deserve the best all around player designation a lot of media analysts gave Datsyuk a couple of years ago. I agree the Detroit has been a model for draft and raise through there AHL affilate but I, like many, know that at some point that won't hold up. 24 years is a long time to make the playoffs straight.

BTW you didn't say "Detroit will make the playoffs for the next three years." You said:

    Which is delusional.

You really think you'll get anything above a 5th round pick for "the Monster".

So did the Flames not to long ago. Actually the best part about the Flames is they fired the guy who drafted all of their studs. So...

The average age in Anaheim is ~25.
Average age in Detroit is ~29.
Perry, Kesler, and Getzlaf are all 30.
    Beauchemin is 34.

    Just saying.

24 is a long run, there's been some close calls the past few years. All good things come to an end, but they'll be doing damage for sure.

    LOL,

Getzlaf and Perry are younger than Zetterberg and Datsyuk. Fowler is an absolute stud on D that Detroit simply doesn't have. Anderson and Gibson aren't amazing goalies, but they are above average and for the Ducks style that's all they need. I didn't even mention the surrounding cast but it is so good. The Ducks aren't going anywhere for a while.

lol every team has promising young players, but not all work out. None of those are expected to be elite
