    I have a 2015 SR5 4x4 DCLB, it has 4 leaf rear suspension (3 leafs plus a overload), with 13,000 miles.
I added firestone ride rite air bags yesterday because I have 2 modes of driving one is the bed is completely empty and the other there's 400-500 pounds in the bed, so I thought the air bags would be great for me, which I think they will.

The problem is what I did not realize until I was installing the bag was that my truck was riding around on the overloads all the time. This is not normal.

These pictures are with 10 PSI in the airbags which I could visually see the truck rise with only 2-3 pounds in the bags and the drivers side is still on the overload.

I am looking for input as I think this riding on the overload causes a really stiff ride, with the bags now I think small bumps are better but large ones (like bridge joints) are worse.

One thought I had was to get a Wheeler's progressive AAL and remove the overload since I have the bags I should not need the overload anyway.

Any help you guys can give would be great.

    Hello:

I have no experience with airbags. However, after buying my 2015, I read lots of complaints on this forum about the weak rear suspension, and was concerned since I do use my truck as a truck pretty regularly. I figured airbags or new leafs were going to be necessary.

So far, though, it seems to be doing well. I don't find that my truck rides very rough (for a truck), although it does ride much better with a few hundred pounds in the bed, which is typical for a truck (I have owned three, including a full-size GMC and a much older Frontier). As another data point, just yesterday I had what I estimate to be up to 900 lbs in the bed (40 2x6x8s and three pieces of 1/2 inch sheetrock). Obviously, the tailgate was down, and the rear suspension was heavily loaded since the center of gravity of the load was close to the location of the rear axle. During my 15 mile drive with the load, split between smooth, paved 2-land and very rough, paved and unpaved 2-lane with two RR crossings, the ride was good. I had over an inch of clearance to the bump stops, and might have hit them once on a RR crossing.

I was happy with that, and don't see a need to change things. I think that the 4-leaf pack is OK for what the truck was designed to do.

Anyone have experience installing the progressive aal and removing the overload and one of the leafs in the aal?
I'm not last looking to gain any lift, but think it will be a better ride.

So far a 2" level lift and complete mossy oak seat covers...(as of may 2019....took the coverkings seat covers off and returned them cause they fell apart less than 6 months old...having a apholstry shop do them.) Just bought mickey Thompson's rims offset -22 8X16...not on yet. Plus I have a 1985 with a 10" lift. 42,495 miles. NOT FOR SALE...lol
Just for sh*ts and giggles cause I know Firestone's reputation. Just to be safe.....double check to see if its installed properly. Make sure the rear end is sitting on just the spring pack pin and etc....that just doesn't seem right....
