Buddy of mine had some unused Raptor Liner. Put that on about a year ago and it still looks great. Any type of bed liner seems to last pretty good.

Painting really is your best option. Once they fade you can temporarily restore them but when the product wears off the fade will always return. Ideally you would apply a protectant every couple months after purchasing the truck but who has time for that. Paint them and be done with it

bed liner, that's it for now
I'm not exactly saying it's the best (only lasts for about 2 months max) but I use turtle wax trim restorer after each wash and detail and that keeps it looking good until the next wash.

There are a few bolts on the underside of the fender, then 6-7 clips holding it on. You WILL break the clips so I'd just mask it off unless you have new ones to replace them with.

Thanks @camptaco01. It's a pain in the ass to take them off. Will order clips before, because I rather just break them off. Haha

Update: I applied some Meguiars black plastic restorer when I washed my truck last and it looks beautiful. So far its held up about a month through dust rain and mud.

    Just some stuff...
I've been using Meguiars black plastic restorer for the past year or so on my bumpers and fenders and it works great, but if you run your truck through one of those drive thru car washes it'll fade pretty quick.
