Hello guys my Tacoma is been shifting hard at 15 and 25 mph I believe is 1to2 and 2to3 gear, you can feel a bump kind like the axel wrap that happens when stopping, this happens intermittent not all the time that is the weird thing. It happens after a stop light only all other shifts are nice and smooth, Any help would be appreciated it. Truck is 2003 auto 4wd

I did a flush couple weeks ago because I thought that could help but nothing same thing as before the flush intermittent shifting continued. I notice this started happening after they change the SRS sensor at the dealer.

Ok guys so I checked the fluid following this method

Park the vehicle on a level surface. With the engine idling and the parking brake applied, shift the selector into all positions from "P" to "L", and then shift into "P" position. Pull out the dipstick and wipe off the fluid with a clean rag. Re-insert the dipstick and check that the fluid level is in the HOT range. Do this check with the fluid at normal driving temperature (70 - 80°C, 158 - 176°F) .

I turned the engine on and let it idle for at least 10 min until it reached normal temp. I followed the instruction above and I checked the fluid and it showed below the hot marks both times that I checked see pictures. Could this be the cause of the hard shift??

From the looks of those pictures it looks low since in the manual its states it should be between the hot range, maybe someone else would chime in, but to me it looks low.

Update, I got my transmission checked and it's fine. What I notice is that if I hold the transfer case shifter back I have the "4wd push shifter" and apply pressure to the shifter the truck shifts nice and smooth no harsh shifting at all, if I let it go they it does the intermittent harsh shifting. Any ideas what to check guys????????

The "hard upshift" is what I experienced right before my A340f auto grenaded, badly, that said you say if you pull back on the transfer lever all is well with the shifting leads me to think something is loose or somehow mis aligned, I dunno, the A340F (tho' a decent trans) is a funny animal & is anal as hell with req maintenance, sorry I've got nothing better for diagnostic, maybe linkage is jacked up somewhere

Thanks for the feedback, I got my transmission checked up and everything is fine with it. That's when I notice that holding the transfer case lever back makes the truck shift nice and smooth and not bump feeling when it shifts at 15 and 25 mph. Actually the transfer case has some play maybe something is loose like you said, I really don't want to take it to the mechanic and get tit check out hopefully someone knows what's up. Thanks
