I actually remembered to bring my camera to the office today to get good pics of the nest but mom and dad are double teaming the sitting duties. its kinda cold out today so when one leaves the other immediately takes over. trying to be patient.... wonder if I should wear my hard hat and safety glasses to avoid any branches to the face or pissed off, divebombing birdies clobbering me in the head....

I had to post this Tropical Parula picture from this past weekend because i worked so hard to get a pic of it. Hes very rare in the southern tip of texas. He was at a highway rest stop up in the tall oak trees. Then he flew and i chased his ass across the highway and thru knee high grass before i finally heard his calling, as he perched in some low tree branches long enough to get some pics...i was sweating like crazy after that battle. Fact of the matter is i got the pics of the lifer

Went to Yellowstone today and spotted a new bird (I think), couldn't get the little guy to hold still! Gaah! This is the best shot I got of him
    birdie_zps2unhivuf_60f2f5afa5102f188aededabad274020516dfc92.jpg
He was mostly black and white, maybe some grey, and he had a yellow patch on his throat and forehead. Maybe a yellow rumped warbler? http://identify.whatbird.com/obj/154/_/Yellow-rumped_Warbler.aspx

Also think I saw an owl this morning. I was driving on a 2 lane highway, no shoulder, nowhere to pull over, at 70-ish and saw something perched on a telephone pole. Thought it was just another hawk or eagle until I got closer and saw that it didn't have any shoulders, just a big bulky head. Also think maybe I saw some tufts on the head so if it was an owl maybe a great horned or long eared.

Yeah sounds and looks like a yellow rump warbler to me also. Have yet to see one this year but last year had a number of them go through here.

I'd say that's definitely a yellow-rumped. Their tails have that white underside with black tips. There are two types, Audubon's in the west with a yellow throat and Myrtle in the east with a while throat (like cold iron's photo). I don't know which you'd typically get in Yellowstone. Don't know about the owl, but long-eared like to stay hidden so I'd guess it was a great-horned.

got any shots of your hatchlings?

that's close to the little guy I saw, more yellow on the forehead and throat though

No pics of the chicklets...was watching mom and dad feed them all day. That's a full time job keeping them Fed!! I think there's 3. Gotta remember to bring my camera to work
And I think you're right, Audubon warbler is most likely the one I saw

Babies! Got some pics of my robin's today, I'll post them later when I get home. There's FOUR of them crammed in that nest. No wonder mom and dad have been making endless trips for food!
