Had the strut and coil taken out and took it down to a shop for them to take off the top piece holding coil down and replaced it with now 3" lift spacer. Everytime I hit or go through a speed bump, I hear a thump...maybe the coils aren't doing the job and the strut(maybe shocks) are bottoming out?

    Thanks

So your doing a coil spacer instead of a strut spacer? I heard a lots of bad thing about coil spacer. I ran strut spacer for about a year or so and had no problem. Plenty of speed bump here.

The coil is doing it job but when your adding extra inches on top of the coil. Making it compressed/preloads even more. Your putting to much stress on the coil even when its sitting there idle. Worst going over speed bump.

What you are probably hearing is either your shock topping out or bottoming out, do you hear the noise on compression or extension ?

@Evenflow I usually hear it when it's compressing. 75% sure, since Ive only driven a third of a gas tank with it on.

It is pretty easy to test it out, go find a speed bump and roll over it pretty slow but foot off of the brake and let it " fall " off the backside of the speed bump. Pay really close attention to see if the noise happens on the way down or if it happens when the coil rebounds. Unfortunately both issues are not fixable without limiting travel if it is coming from your shock. If it is your shock bottoming out on compression you can simple add a spacer to your bump stop to ensure it is hitting the bump before the shock bottoms out. If the noise is from a hard top out there is no way to fix that...
