You should never have to put money down to order a vehicle. For every car we've ordered to spec from different dealerships we spec'ed it out, they ordered it through their allocation and inventory system, and we paid when it showed. This dealership I'm working with now hasn't required anything either, and stated that payment occurs at delivery. He's even agreed in writing to USAA/True Car pricing.

Hmmmm....thanks. I've special ordered my last 3 cars and agreed to similar terms; howvever heard today a dealership is requiring a deposit to get on their list. This without even knowing what you can order or how much it costs. I guess we can expect to see this out there from some dealerships. Let the fun begin.

Just stopped at the dealer today to look at a 2015. They informed me Toyota was just visiting and informed them they will have them in September and should know more details toward the end of June.

Doing a refundable deposit might make them respect your authoritah more, because that shows a commitment that you're ready to buy. But if that is required, I'd make damn sure that the truck is exactly what you ordered down to the exact trim and options and so on.

Plus you'll be ready to kill Kenny with the giant 3rd gen grill :D

Nope, still nothing in the inventory system. I have to drop my daily driver off next Saturday for the Takata airbag recall (finally got some more in), and I'm going to swing by the sales office. Brian did say that he'd call me as soon as it hits the computer, because they sell out of Tacomas continuously.

With my luck, it will all be flooded out on Saturday. We're getting rain right now like nobody's business. Lake Travis is over 50% for the first time in 4 years, and continues to rise by feet. El Niño is back, and we've needed it.

Not sure I can order up front without seeing the trim options in person. Would like to get one in late September or October though. Wonder how long I will have to wait if I miss the first batch of Tacomas.

I'm ready for that trd sport longbed or limited. Unless we hit the 42000 dollar mark. That would make a strong appeal to a low grade limited tundra. Love the engine on my 1st generation tundra, hoping for a similar tacoma experience. I'm all in either eay. I dont want a full size and not buying a colorado. Although chevy has impressed me on this one. Just not sure about reliability.

Yeah, no kidding, you have to weigh the reliability and then you have to think about the trade in value when you finally trade it in, you can get hammered big time.

I had a Chev Truck in the 90's that I purchased new, babied it, and it basically just started to self destruct, I have never gone back to a North American vehicle since then.

I haven't really followed the tundras very much. How do they hold up in terms of trade in value?

It really comes down to personal pref. I for one really don't like the 2016 exterior so i would go with a 15, but if you like the 16 might as well fight the urge and wait for them, it will be worth it, since Toyota has never failed on making a taco last:) Either way we willl accept you here on TW .. well most of us lol

From what i hear, the Tacomas hold their value much better than the Taundras. Tundras are great trucks but they are also V8 (not always a need when it comes to a every day truck). Dealers are constantly throwing promos on Taundras but you will almost never see a special on a Tacoma. Tacomas just sell really well without a promo, ppl love them, and theres no doubt why:) Tacomas can haul and at the same time be your family truck. That's basically what it comes down to, You would usually buy a Tundra if you need more hauling power.

I doubt Toyota would move the price up that much.
If it was 40k people would just step up and buy a tundra.
I doubt price will jump that much. Especially cause a lot pieces and parts carried over.

I don't foresee this happening in a manual. too much liability with a PTS and manual.

also to add, from what I have been told, caveat emptor ... its about 8 weeks between build and delivery to dealers (for my dealer at least). they expect on the lot by November and allocations to open in August/September.

My biggest problem is waiting. I have been waiting and waiting for a few years now. Nothing wrong with the 15, but I have been holding out for a bit more as i only purchase a new vehicle about every 11-13 years.

About pulled the trigger a few times on the taco, but was really hoping for better fuel mileage, quieter cabin, and newer interior. I know not all like the new body style, but I like it. There have been several times in the past when a new style came out I was immediately disgusted, then it grows on me. I really like the new styling, especially compared to the hilux. The hilux to me looks like a Nissan Frontier. I understand the functionality of the roll bar, but it just looks out of place.

I have someone "waiting" to buy my 05 tundra access cab. Just not sure how much longer I can put them off. I WANT MY TACOMA LIKE I WANT MY BEER......NOW!

Did go check out some 15's last night. Dealer had some actual deals (1500-2000 off), and man they must of had 20 of them. Clear them out quick fellas and make room for those 16's.

Toyota already has many vehicles out with push button start on manuals - for instance all Release series / special edition Scion tC and FR-S that have it as an option (eg: Monogram series)

The S2000 has had push button start since 1999 and every single s2000 is manual so it'll be fine. Doubt Toyota will screw it up.
