They have been out of stock from the distributors forever! Finally got a couple blacks coming in and of course FDE is still OOS at the distributors (of course every other color is in now).

It's funny because this is always the slowest time of year for this industry. So you'd think inventory would be fat. Nope it always sucks ass. It's very frustrating for the shops and of course the customers.

We started revamping our non hunting lineup. Currently testing out our 300BO 10.5" pistol upper. I just threw this handguard on it because it's what I had so that won't be used on the finish product.

It's a hand lapped 416 SS barrel with adjustable gas block so it can be fired sub or super.

Picked these up today at academy, I'm interested to see how the American eagle runs in my gun, hopefully it's good because of love to have plinking ammo for 16.99/20

American eagle is good. I tend to stay away from Winchester.

Ok so let's talk 6.8. What upper is it? We've found that the American eagle works fine in the slightly over gassed 6.8 (larger gas ports for reliability) fine but will not properly cycle the tighter tolerance set ups where the gas port is tuned for accuracy.

The Remington 6.8 ammo is SEVERELY under powered as Remington refuses to admit that the SPC II chamber is safe and can handle higher pressure ammo. The chamber is safe to 57,000 psi with margin for error.

Look at the Sellior and Bellot. Phenomenal brass and also very good prices plinking ammo.

Don't forget you have a 6.8 SME here. Feel free to ask if ever in doubt.

I've used AE ammo in my 5.56 quite a bit, never used the 6.8 though.
I only bought the Winchester because it was the cheapest stuff (cheaper than monarch by $2/20)

I built the upper myself, 6.8 ARP barrel from you (16", midlength gas system) and a YHM low profile has block, BCG is from you also.

I got the Remington ammo to see if it would work for deer hunting, I have some of the cheap UMC ammo that everybody hates but my gun functioned with it fine, I also have some silver state armory ammo to try.

I'm hoping one of these weekends coming up we'll have some good weather so I can setup a bench and target at 75-100 yards and see how it groups with the different ammo.

Keep me informed please. We are finding that federal is having hit or miss results in the fusion and American eagle line. Fusion lately is acting like the powder is to fast and causing swipes but won't cycle the BCG.

The big companies can't seem to listen to us on what to use. Hornady on the other hand. Phenomenal listeners and just keep putting out a great 6.8 product.

Will do, I have a box of fusion also, I haven't fired any of it though, I've only had time to get 25 rounds through the rifle for a function test and it was all UMC ammo.

Uh, fellas - the Winchester ammo pictured in post # 12391 is 1st run, real deal Holyfield M855 ammo. USG issue, and probably leftovers from Winchester's ongoing SAW ammo contract.

It is not the usually found at Wal-Mart Winchester White Box (WWB) stuff. Buy with confidence.

Same goes with the 9mm 124-grain ball (in a box labelled "9MM NATO"), which is also 1st run from the pistol ammo contract.

FWIW - Winchester's Ranger line is probably some of the best duty/self-defense ammo that you'll find anywhere.

All the 115gr 9mm Winchester I ever get (Walmart or not) acts funky. And my guns eat literally everything. Even the perfecta brand 9mm from Walmart shoots great. Winchester .40 is no problem. Idk what the deal is with the other two. The one time I shot Winchester 55gr 5.56 it was a problem too. Idk why.

Well the IWT 10.5" 300BO ran like a champ yesterday. 416 SS hand lapped barrel with pistol gas length, adjustable gas block. It ran Rem subsonics with full open gas block and Rem Supersonics with 6 clicks open on the gas block. No overgas issues, used a standard carbine buffer and spring so it'll just slap right on your standard lower. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1433105506.288199.jpg

I just used one of our test handguard said and upper receivers so this is not a finished product just a test product.

It's hard to compare our 300BO with the 7.62x39 because of how set up the gas system. Most manufacturers over gas their rifles and uppers for reliability purposes. Customers add heavier buffers to counteract this and bolt bounce. That will work but it's not the correct way to deal with the issue although it is an inexpensive fix. The proper way to fix the issue is tune the gas port size for the round intended to be used. Again that's not viable because people use so many different types of ammo with different pressures and burn rates. So we use adjustable gas blocks to accomplish this same thing. What does this do for you? First and most important it allows the upper to shoot both subsonic and supersonic without ruining your brass, beating your rifle or shoulder to death and increases bolt life.

By tuning the gas block to only let the proper amount of gas to cycle the weapon you decrease wear and tear on the BCG and rifle overall (which a heavier buffer will also do but to a less fine tuned degree) it also means less felt recoil allowing a flatter shooting rifle and faster follow up shots (which a heavier buffer will not do). So to answer your question our upper on your pistol will have a lot less felt recoil than a 7.62x39 without a tunes or gas system.
