Luckily it was only 99cents. I will give it another try when I have more time. It looks like the one they were using in the video that OZ-T posted.

So I finally had time to start messing around again with this. According to that video- I measured 3.5* at my output and 5.5* at my axle. Right now I already have a 3.0* shim installed, so if I wanted to be the same angle I would need to come down 2.0* at the pinion. So I think I would need to replace that 3.0* shim with a 1.0* shim.

is all this sounding correct to anyone? I want to order the new shim with confidence ha.

Unfortunately, I think that I was too hasty in posting info and if I understand correctly, the guy in the above video didn't measure properly.
I'm still uncertain atm as I'm currently learning myself. My apologies, I certainly would not want to mislead anyone.

Do you have a 1st or 2nd gen?

I was under the truck for like half an hour trying to measure and figure things out. It seems a lot more complicated than the video, probably because the drive shaft is a two piece.
I have a hard time understanding the physics.
I measured 3.5* at the transfer out and 5.8* at pinion. I don't really have vibrations, but I wonder if they show up later and if I should do something now to prevent that from happening.

If you're not having vibrations, I wouldn't worry about it. But, that's just me.

Here is a video that is pretty detailed and more than likely explains how to figure out the current angles you have and what they should be: http://youtu.be/f1m-Fh5kiRU

    I have a second generation.

To fourpointTRD, we have almost the exact angles, I have vibrations and you do not. Did you lift your truck ?

If someone would tell me the stock diff angle I'm sure I could just use shims to get mine to that spec. If I have to I'll make a trip to Toyota and compare.

Either way both videos are telling you the same thing just one is more detailed I guess. I still need to bring that diff angle down to match my output

its very confusing that we have basically the same angles but I have a vibration at take off. Ugh

Every truck is different....or so it seems by what others have posted.
I have Icons up front & Dakars in the rear. My Icons are cranked down so that I'm about 1/2 inch lower in the front than my rear and I only have vibrations at and after 20mph. Go figure...

Did you read my post about the 1 degree shim?

I have also been looking to see if I can buy a kit from SPC that would include different size shims but it seems they only sell each size in a set of 6?

After battling the dreaded low speed vibration I took my 05 into a drive line shop. After checking both shafts u-joints and replacing the CB the drive line shop made to recommendations. All my angles being spot on the main issue the came up with was excessive axle wrap due to the weak factory springs. Mine have a AAL and 1 inch block. Horrible axle wrap. The factory main and secondary leafs in the spring pack work great with no lift. However when you increase the angle and run a larger tire the axle wrap is exaggerated to the point no fiddling with angles will fix the issue. The shops recommendation is a high quality set of replacement springs. I just placed an order with Alcan Spring here in Grand Junction for a new set. They are world renown for building some of the best leaf springs in the world. The 2in. lift spring pack they suggested has 8 too 10 leafs per pack (depending on load) and virtually eliminate spring wrap. Hopefully it works. I will update when installed. (30 days out on order)

Thanks to everyone who posted to this thread to help me understand how to fix my vibration. I am pleased to say I was able to eliminate the vibrations today. Since this seems to work for others and now myself I will tell you what I did.

My output angle was 3.5 degrees
I wanted to match my output with my rear driveshaft pinion angle which before this repair was 5.5 degree with a 3 degree shim already in place. I needed to bring that pinion angle down, I messed around with a bunch of different shims but installing a 1 degree shim with thicker part towards rear of truck brought my angles to match. I left the rear end alone.

I then moved my carrier so both angles were close with slight difference of about .4 degrees so before CB angle being 9.8, after CB angle being 9.4

There was no way I would have been able to fix this on my first attempt months ago. From what I was reading then there would have been no way I would have thought to install a 1 degree since most Toyota vendors start selling shims at 2 degree. Once I started understanding what I was measuring I felt more confident on how to fix it.

Happy to hear that. I think its been a good learning experience for us all. What do you mean that you "moved" your carrier? Did you mount it in a different place or what?

"Moved" as in adding washers above the bracket to lower the carrier

I know this is only 3 pages, so forgive me for not reading all of them.

I had the same vibration at around 5 mph while accelerating (and around 20 mph when decelerating). When I experienced those vibes, I had the 4 leaf TSB pack with the Toytec AAL. The vibes went away when I put on the Dakar leaf pack. Just my .02.
