Oh, and I catch a lot of heat from coworkers for going over to Ford too. One out of about 13 people I talked to about this has a Ford, and most of the others are mildly anti-Ford. However, they're all impressed with the picture I posted, the specs I showed them after ordering it, and ALL want to see/ride in it when I bring it to work this week. (The one lone Ford guy has a 99 F250 diesel with 200-300k on it, and is only looking for something else because it's a little rusted around the fenders and is 2wd. He can't get up his road in the winter since they moved out of the city.)

Oh, and I gave up parking my Tacoma in my barn years ago when I saw the wood floor sagging. Now my tractor sits in there, so no problems going with the 6.5 ft bed. ;) However, turning around in my driveway is taking some figuring out! haha Thank god for that backup camera and proximity alert. hehe

I am in total agreement with you on the Ford, it is a beautiful truck and if I can get over my bad experience with a North American Truck (Chevrolet) from a few years ago, and I don't like the new 2016 Tacoma when I finally see one, I will probably go with a Ford.

I wish I'd gotten a pic of the Tacoma parked between 2 F150s. Even at factory height, and my Tacoma lifted 3" on larger tires, they were several inches taller than my truck.

99% of people who hate Ford have never drove one. They simply hate Fords because there Dad drove a Chev or Dodge. It's easy to see the jealousy when Ford has lead the market for something like 40 years.

I have this photo of my wifes truck next to mine lol. I have a 2.5" lift and 33's. My mirrors are higher than her but my overall height is about the same.

    Go test drive one!

Silly little things I've noticed on the Ford that make me wonder if Toyota is even trying to improve anything: (and admit it, how many of us have frequented my cheap/free or some other thread to fix some of these ourselves?)
    • conduits under the center console so charge cables don't get pinched when you close the lid (this happened on our Rav that had both 12v and aux-in in the center console. Go figure.)
    • lights in the center console
    • lights in the bin under the stereo/climate controls (has 12v, 2xUSB, Aux in, SD card reader)
    • lumbar support for the front passenger
    • heated seats
    • bed lights (the tundra has them, even our rav had one in the back door, but not the tacoma? wtf)
    • mirror puddle lights so you see what you're stepping in
    • tailgate step, no more knee over the tailgate to get in
    • locking tailgate
    • METAL bed cleats!! (not plastic!!!)
    • those metal cleats attach to a metal bed wall with a metal plate so they're solidly attached. (no flex or give on these)
    • 4 (yes FOUR!!) tie down loops in the bed
    • spot lights in the mirrors (good for lighting up 10-20 feet on either side of the truck when stopped or under 5mph)
    • LEDs over each rear passenger door, on with doors/"dome" switch or individually by the passenger
    • power sliding, defrosting, rear window
    • heated mirrors (ok, it was an option on the Rav at least, and I bought those "sport" mirrors afterward from RockAuto. No option for the vehicle rated to tow 6500lbs though.)

Seriously, I could light up half my yard with this thing, with the headlights off.

Gen2 Honda Ridgeline? Nah. Still won't have 4LO I bet. It will have a traditional box bed so maybe you can put a shell on it. Honda will still be challenging the midsize market, you decide.

It depends on the trim. Standard box with a regular cab and you'd be shorter than most Tacomas. The problem I find offroad with all full sized trucks is the width. Then again the width is what makes the F150 so.much calmer on the road, especially with a trailer.

Trade offs, you can't have everything.

I'll be honest, I've had an FX4 in some nasty stuff. It's a great truck offroad. Just not great in the family friendly version offroad.

The new full size trucks in general are all too freakin' huge for my tastes. Now most get better H/W mileage than my Tacoma does so there is that but I just do not need a truck that freakin' big. I still intend to go drive a Canyon diesel if they ever happen just because I am sold on diesel power plants for trucks and SUVs but will probably just keep my Tacoma.

Just curious what has you sold on diesel? If the Colorado diesel option adds on 5K, loses some towing, and the reliability is crap like the Ecodiesel then will you still be sold on it?

C'mon man. What? Shorter than most Tacomas? Please. I believe the shortest F150 available on the planet is 230 inches long with a 140 inch wheel base.

Completely agree with ya. Today on my way back from Tahoe I lost count of the number of lifted F150's I saw alongside a ton of lifted tacos as well. The overall larger dimensions, particularly the width, of the F150 really completes that "solid-ness" aesthetic appeal in my opinion. But then again it is a full-size truck; probably won't find it going up a tight corner and squeeze like this, or at least not as often :p. Lifted tacos have that sportier look because of the smaller dimesions, being a mid-size truck, and are able to do awesome things like Blackdawg's trip. Cheers to any lifted truck imo! :oldglory:

If "diesel" has the horrible connotation you are associating with it then I won't be. I've been actually driving clean turbo diesels for years now and am absolutely sold on the technology but I have to buy VW, Porsche, or Audi to do it. It is an amazing and very reliable power plant that provides a perfect power band for heavier vehicles like trucks and SUVs while getting 25-35mpg in the process. And, if VW can do it economically, so can we here in the states.

Sadly, I was interested in getting a Jeep GC diesel when I bought the wife her Audi but have not been able to even drive one because dealers won't stock any and the marketing stateside for clean diesel is non-existent.

    F150 RCSB is w/b 122.4, track is 67.6, length 209.3

    Tacoma AC is w/b 127.4, track 63.0/4, length 208.1

So pretty darn close....(and you can get it with the Eco-Boost...be a pretty hawt fun little package compared to the Taco)

Granted this is the old body style, but think of the possibilities! :D

If I was in the market for a new truck and I was not going to buy a Toyota, it would most likely be a Ford, I will never buy a Gov Motors product.

See above. Someone already did the leg work. It's the width that kills the full sized trucks offroad and the family friendly versions are also too long.

Easy man, it was just a question. I'm aware of the advantages of diesel too. However there are problems with the Ram Ecodiesel and some companies other than VW are pricing the Diesel only on there higher end models. I find those thing's a real buzz kill.
