hey, I know a lot of you are suspension experts over here, so I have a n00b question that could result in some degree of burnage

I currently have 5100's/885x in the front and 5100/Icon AAL in the rear. I was thinking about trying to get a little more height in the front, without getting too nuts and killing my CV angle (see pics)

    IMG_3933.jpg IMG_3932.jpg

So, is it possible to add a 1/4" top spacer to the front to squeeze out more height, and possibly match it with a small 1" block in the rear? I'm getting a camper shell next month, so I was hoping to counter any rear sag I might get. plus, I want to get 255/85's :anonymous:

    please go easy. haha, mahalos

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
Why not just up your 5100s one notch? And then the block in the rear. Or, just add the block and see what you look like after the camper shell

I've been told that with 885's I should always stay at "0" because of the preload/ride quality

Yes you can put the 1/4 spacers on there. That shoul get you to a full 3" upfront or there abouts. It ends up being the same as coilovers cranked up o 3". Which is what I did.

what are you running for rear suspension? I also have the drivers side spacer in for the taco lean. would I just leave that in, and throw the top spacers on?

I don't like spacers personally, unless of course you compensate for the spacers by spacing out your bump stops downward as well. Then you should be ok. How much you would need to space them out that I do not know.

You can put the 10mm or the 13mm spacers on top with no ill effects. I would skip out on going with the trim spacer as that would do very little.

The one thing to remember is that when doing the 10mm or the 13mm top plates, they will come with longer strut bolts.. easy.. I have the 5100s, 885s, and 13mm..

I also have a shell on my LB... I think once you get the shell, your rear will drop enough to almost negate the AAL (especially when it settles and you have a couple loads in the rear). I ended up with a dakar pack in the rear with the added AAL...

so if I already have the 1/4" spacer in, just leave it?

yeah, that's what I was worried about. does your truck sit pretty level with that rear pack+AAL setup? maybe I should get that pack in the Boss group buy :spy:

I gotta check your truck out one day so I can see for myself. then I can compare what kind of heights I can expect, to what I have now :D

Yeah if you already have the 1/4 lean spacer I'd leave it and add another 1/4, one on each side. Now I'm running dakars in the back with OME nitros and timberens. Man I love those timberens. I've already gotten my money out of them hauling heavy loads.

since I have a 1/4" on the driver's side, maybe I'll order a 1/2" to replace it, and move the 1/4" to the passenger side. theoretically, this should bring it up 1/2", right?

also, what if instead of the 1" blocks (which seems to be worse than murder after reading through this site), I add the overload spring back in? I think that's around a 1/2"?

yeah the math works out that way too. I guess just the cost of the single 1/2" vs 2 - 1/4". I went with one polyurethane and one aluminum when I stacked them. That way they bind and are less likely to slip. As far as the rear, if the OL will give you 1/2" then that could work. I guess it depends on how you like it the way it sits when it's all said and done.

well, I guess if I want to go down this 1/2" spacer route, I need longer top plate strut bolts... which means I need to take the top hat off. so......... who has a spring compressor and would like to help? I can pay :anonymous:

and if you want to install some LR UCA's, and possible 1" blocks in the rear, that would be awesome

The rear blocks are easy... just jack the rear up, take off u-bolts, put block in, and reassemble.. You will probably need to get new u-bolts just in case.. , blocks are way easier than even an AAL.

As far as the fonts, you can always do the LCA method...

oh yeah, I still get the u-bolts from my Icon AAL's. the box says they're 8"... stock is 6-1/2"? I dunno, but when Iven and Mike installed my suspension, we decided to just reuse the OEM u-bolts since my truck only had like 1,500 miles. lol

    PM'd you.
