My old Leer 100XR, which I made the mistake of selling.

I now have a Leer 100XQ. It's tough to tell in this picture, but it's grey instead of black. It's a nice cap, but I miss the sliding windows on the XR.

I want to put a Yakima rack with landing pads on my top. I'm not scared to drill it, but I don't want any leaks. Those if you who have them, do you have any problems with water getting in?

    Which cap do you have?

The ARE have a fancy corrugated type cardboard in the roof for strength. Allegedly if you drill through the roof and water leaks in via the hole the roof will lose its strength and the cap could break. They also said if you add your own rack and damage the cardboard it can also weaken the roof

At least that is what I was told by the dealer. Never tested it myself

Got an ARE MX series shell a couple weeks ago. Did my first shakedown test of it this weekend. I did about 200KM of fairly rough dirt/gravel road. Now I'm having issues with one of my windoors binding on itself on about a 6inch section of the hinge. Its actually wearing off the paint on it every time you open it. I'll have to take some photos once i get a chance to clean my truck up. Looks like i'll be headed back to the dealer to see what they can do.

Has anyone else with ARE windoors had an issue like this before?

Bilstein 5100's on all four corners. Front set @ 0 with OME 883x coils. Alcon leaf springs. Viper Alarm. Wet Okole seat covers. WeatherTech Floor liners front and back. Oem Toyota chrome exhaust tip. ARE Shell. America Outlaw Wheels.
That looks really sharp. As for washing , wash the rest of the truck with soap and just rinse the shell with plain water for now . I had to do that with my last shell after I got it . It sucked but I was glad I did for the paint sake.

Just picked up this ARE Z series used. Couldn't believe I found one color matched.
My question is, what is everybody finding is the best solution for a rack on the shell? It has the tracks already installed, just looking for something reasonably priced. Thanks.

Put the Landing Pads towards the outside edges of the roof where it is thinner. Do not drill through the center area of the roof where the corrugated reinforcement is.

Use a backing plate (or at least large fender washers) and put silicone/RTV in the holes, and you should be fine.

Thanks, I would have drilled the thicker part.

My new A.R.E. Z series. I love the looks of it. There are many interior issues that I will refrain from sharing until I see what A.R.E. plans to do about them.

That looks really nice. I had a Z-Series on my last truck and really liked it.

On this truck (also a Super White AC) I went with an X-Series for the WinDoors. I like those, but the Z overall does look better.

Too lazy right now to do a search but are there any posting of a Century brand shell here?
Saw one on a Tundra in Long Beach recently and had some interesting exterior features to it.

2930 posts, I'm sure a few are Century brand. I've seen them here locally, not sure what their prices are and how they compare though.

I liked the glass SUV style windows, thought it was more of a cleaner look. Debated on the 100XL and 100XR for months. Can't go wrong with either. However, if the dog wasn't a full time cab rider(wet okole seat covers are a must IMO) I'd of got the 100XR.
