I just did my brakes a month ago. Man my rotors were toast! I don't think my dad ever changed them. So they had 340k on them. Warped and major groove. Was a bitch to open the calipers up enough to fit new pads along with a new rotor. Haha. Hope it all works out for ya.

Sweet, thanks man. Just in time, ordered a satoshi (grille craft), Toyota emblem, and a lower driver side headlight filler yesterday.

So for sure I need to replace my lower ball joints... anything else I should do while I'm in there? Perhaps the uppers? Tie rod? I am still I'm the monkey-see-monkey-do phase as a mechanic...

You have to remove the OTRE to take off the LBJ anyways..could do that. But if they are okay just leave it otherwise you could screw up your toe on your alignment.

Don't forget to rent a Pitman puller, the larger one from the parts store.

If the uppers are fine, id leave them be.

Finally wired my ARB compressor. Seems to work great with my locker but I think I'm leaking some air. I'll have to trouble shoot that soon. Also wires in all of my ottratw switches but forgot to take a final picture, so these will have to do.

Did the map /dome light mod just now so when you open and close the door the map light goes on and off with the dome light . Works awesome . I ordered three Xenon map/dome light bulbs for it on Amazon , They will be here in a few days

Took it camping over the weekend. Rolled over 250k. But must have blown the rear shocks on these roads as the rear was riding like a pogo stick on the way back. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1432652218.820625.jpg

I thought about this same question for quite a while...I think he means to get the tie rod out of the knuckle? I just beat on the knuckle til they fall out.:anonymous:

multi quote is out of order, bah.
Yes, it removes the tie rod easier than beating it with a hammer, which I have also done. I bought the pitman arm puller from HF for about $10.00 and have used it several times with no problems. Really doesn't take much torque to pop them out.

I always use a puller on those. So easy and 'less violent'. Using a BFH, you can hit (and break) something you're not supposed to :D

I'm definitely getting the puller. Easy to borrow from the parts store, so I see no reason not to :) the uppers definitely look fine, and I think the tie rods look ok too. Guess I'll just go ahead and replace both lowers while I'm at it. They are at 92k miles probably stock, so just gonna replace both.
