I recently purchased a dual row 50 inch curved led bar.

Looking for some black covers. Because chp gave me a ticket.

Trying to get it fixed before I have to present myself to court to at least show the judge of my attempt of fixing the problem

contact the seller to make sure they will fit your bar. i can't say one way or another if these are good or not. you could find a shop that can manufacture a fabric cover for the bar also. it would be similar to the cover for a padded rollbar.

What was the ticket for? Did you have the lights running? Reason I ask is I was planning on getting one but don't need more unwanted attention..

The best solution is to get a light bar and mock cover up before you mount it.

Yeah, what was the ticket for? I never heard of that, but I'm in Michigan, so my mileage may vary.

VC. 24411. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a vehicle may be
equipped with not more than eight lamps for use as headlamps while
the vehicle is operated or driven off the highway. The lamps shall be
mounted at a height of not less than 16 inches from the ground, or
more than 12 inches above the top of the passenger compartment, at
any place between the front of the vehicle and a line lying on a
point 40 inches to the rear of the seat occupied by the driver, shall
be wired independently of all other lighting circuits, and, whenever
the vehicle is operated or driven upon a highway, shall be covered
or hooded with an opaque hood or cover, and turned off.

Thats the Vehicle Code (24411) he wrote down on my ticket. Remeber I live in California.

I was driving on my way to work. I recently installed a 50 inch curved bar on my 08 tacoma for good looks (and it looks really good). So i was driving down the Hwy 99 S. i see 2 CHP officers on the side of the road. I didint think much of it. Was going 65mph was on the slow lane . I see CHP on lane 1 , and we both pass an exit . Then see him move in to lane 2 , we pass another exit. move into lane 3 . Then i m thinking "whats he doing?" everything is running in my head, Thinking what possible infraction i did for him to start getting so close. Finally hes in lane 4 on my tail. We both get off on the exit and he turns his lights on. Pulls me over and asks for the typical stuff License Registration. Said he pulled me over because my LED bar did not have a cover on it. Which is the first time i hear about it LOL. The vendor nor the location where i got it installed (over 2 weeks ago, ive only gotten my bar for 2 weeks) alerted me. I told him politely that i just recently got it and was not aware of putting a cover on it. He said its the law went to his cruiser and wrote me a ticket. I said thank you . But i m thinking in the back of my head. Its 2:45 pm in daylight, my bar was not on. Why wouldint he give me a warning or a fix a ticket?. Whatever the case , I will present myself to court and ask to judge to reduce to a fix a ticket or reduce the fine. I have seen too many people get away with more for then what I have done. Whats so hard to issue me a fix a ticket and present myself to a CHP office to show them I have fix the problem, to a law that I'm not aware of. I mean , I don't carry a California Vehicle Code book with me. I think me and him could of played it another way. Its always CHP that gives me crap. My local police does not worry about little stuff like this

I know that name of the office is there, and i don't care. When he pulled me over he did it on my way to work. On a route where plenty of my co workers take. Stuff like this is embarrassing to be honest. But hes a public worker. He works for the of California. Hes allowed to be seen by the public. Wish me luck in court. LOL

Ouch...leave it to CHP to ruin your day...I live in the high desert on some pretty secluded mountain roads and was driving to work at 5:30 one morning and sure enough there was CHP ready to write me a ticket..

I remember hearing about that while i lived in cali.... they tend to be more attentive to the roof mounted lights than any thing else. i ran Piaas on my bull bar with the rock gaurds on them, never heard a peep about them. had friends get tickets from the roof mounted ones.

If your driving east on the 8 the minute you get down into the valley any cop that pulls you over is going to look for every non moving violation they can find. All " off road lights " have to have covers on them. I was just about to get a ticket for my 6" lights behind my grill not being covered and I said " hey those are not off-road lights they are driving lights " ...and it actually worked because I showed him my switch is labeled " driving lights ". In my experience the worst spot is between El Centro and Yuma because there is a CHP training facility out there, I have been pulled over 3 times on that stretch of road for no apparent reason and heard everything from - your tires stick out too far, off road lights uncovered, can't see my license plate clear enough because of my spare tire on the rear bumper, can't see your tail lights good enough because of your jerry cans , window tint on front windows etc etc... They are just fishing for an excuse to write a ticket :/ At least they are just cheap " fix it tickets"...

Another thing you might consider is, and this is kind of a project, but creating your own cover. I just recently read somewhere here on the forums that guys were using the rare earth magnets and adhering them to the front of the bar as well as a cover they made. So it could easily be snapped on and off. Being that you have a curved bar, it won't be so easy. But maybe. My idea is as follows: :)D)
See if you can source either a long piece of plexiglass/anything plastic that can (somewhat) be easily formed by heat. Or maybe 2 or 3 pieces. Lay it/them over the bar vertically, with something in between to preotect the light bar lens, and take a heat gun and carefully heat it and let it form/sag over the bar. Then adhere the magnets to both the edges of the light bar and the "custom" homemade cover!! Lol. Sounds funny now that I explain this thought in writing, but would be sweet if you can pull it off!!

Edit:Hell you could even get a piece of fabric, and adhere some snap rings to the edges and call it good. Anything to help with the authorities. Such stupid ass laws. Another reason I love az. Cops don't give a shit about my lights. I've even blinded a few, by mistake of course, annnnnd nothin. Actually had a couple compliment them... But, we have our very own stupid laws too.
