well I tried holding it in front of my blue LED ash tray light and it looked blue but I wont know how it really looks until I get the baby blue LEDs changed over to the regular blue ones. the baby blue LEDs gave it a light orange or almost tan color so im hoping the true blue will be enough to overcome the orange altogether.

I keep thinking about 4runner owner replacing his plate to have it turn from white to orange ??? I would be pissed and don't see how then can do that but what can you do if you need one?

just think long and hard before you do the heater control panel

also you can do the dash lights without removing the steering column cover but it will get scratched up so definitely remove it first. turn the wheel 90 degrees to see and remove the two screws facing at you and then there is one on the bottom of it. for the clock I just left it unplugged since you cant really see it any ways and my radio displays the clock

for the AC lights you need to take off the back cover of the HVAC unit. not that bad just make sure everything lines up when you put it back together :)

and test it before putting it all back together and reinstalling in case you need to flip the bulbs around to make them work

    this is what I bought:

all you need is 4 for dash speedo cluster http://www.ebay.com/itm/111346847561?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT if you want every light in there blue (turn signals and warning lights) then get the 10 light kit http://www.ebay.com/itm/10pc-Blue-T...Map-/151443527221?hash=item2342bcd635&vxp=mtr

floor shifter, ash tray http://www.ebay.com/itm/190729283028?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT also glove box if you have that

heater control panel (must swap out and reuse the stock sockets) http://www.ebay.com/itm/351307979649?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT its easy to swap the bases out, you just unfold the wire so its straight and it falls straight out of the socket, then you just slip the led in and fold the wire back like it was before

Think I'm gonna do all white. Then my switches and floor lighting is gonna be green

I have decided to go back to the regular incandescent bulbs, the LEDs just have an weird unnatural glow to them and it hurts my eyes in daytime low light conditions when I need lights like rainstorms and twilight/dawn periods when you need lights.

im going with the blue condoms on the dash lights to keep the blue color but I think they will have a less focused and more of a scattered background lighting effect to it.

for the heater and shifter im going with colored incandescent lights (amber for floor shifter and blue for ash tray) since the LEDs put out a focused beam in one spot rather then a scattered light to light up the whole thing evenly. I would have got condoms for them but the colored bulb cost the same as the clear bulbs so it didn't make sense to buy the condoms.

I was able to find a white colored heater cover panel so it should show a good blue with the new bulbs in.

once im satisfied with it all, i'll put everything in a grab bag of light mod blue LEDs and sell it at a little less then cost plus shipping to anyone who wants them. I just kinda want to get most of my money back on it if I can.

just wanted to add a link to some great bulb prices I found for LEDs and regular bulbs and or condoms for the bulbs which I haven't seen anywhere else but this place: http://www.superlumination.com/

what the hell is that plate from? must be a 2nd gen or something other then a tacoma? it sure as hell isn't from and 01-04 first gen I ever saw.

the 01-04 have a white paint under the black top cover paint and on the back side they put orange paint blobs just behind where the design is to show through so with a white light behind it the color shows as an orange glow.

super bright LEDs can diminish how much orange shows through and its more of a washed out orange "shade" to it however the problem with LEDs is they tend to shoot a beam of light in one spot and not fill the area with light the same way as the oem incandescent light bulbs do
