Ya if u painted the backsides first it would just bubble off as soon as u welded them in soooo good luck with that. If u got a welder I'd say do yourself or have a buddy weld them in. It's not too hard but a couple of my welds look like a prolapsed ass hole and it bugs the shit out of me now haha

I would do it as a first welding project. Heat management is important on the cast spindles.

    It's 500 bucks for a reason.

I know some people have asked about what to do with fiberglass bedsides, in terms of painting, coating etc. And few people have asked what I have on my bedsides.
Originally they were primed and painted, though the paint quickly got blasted off on the frontside from rocks/dirt flying off the front tires. I had the front section vinyl wrapped, with a second layer of the clear vinyl bra in the spot that takes most of the beating. Had it for about 2 months now, with at least 10 all-day off-road excursions and it's held up great so far...

So this might sound like a stupid question but with this set up being backwards and shit is it safe to drive to the shop to get the gussets welded on?

Most people don't realize how much their suspension is used just driving 10 minutes lol. It's constantly going up and down over unseen bumps and cracks. If you were to droop out to much even going over a speed bump or something...crack goes the uniball or possible scoring or ovaling of the cup

Haha, Monte we were just talking about something like this on Sunday night. That's a good spot for one IKYD, I had a crack at the original weld there not long ago.
