I have a toro 2 cycle 25.4 cc trimmer body (part 51944) that has run with the same plug for 2 years. The manual says use a Champion RCJ4 but when I took out the original, it was the hotter RCJ6 plug. This was purchased brand new in a sealed box at Home Depot. It could run better with carb tuning of the H/L mix but we consumers are not allowed to touch them for environment reasons. :annoyed:

I have been to HD, Lowes, o'reily and no one has the cooler RCJ4 plug specified in the manual. Only the hotter RCJ6. Why would the original plug be different than specified? I live at 4800 feet elevation.

Related question: behind what door is the carb adjustments? I can't see any screws or knobs other than idle. Anyone serious with a chainsaw or other equipment must have access to these adjustments so the it can be tuned for power. (Too many people lean these things out for speed only to have the engine self destruct for lack of lubrication). 2 cycles are picky with elevation and must be tuned again when at a different altitude. Is there a tab I can break off to get to hidden H/L needle valves?
