    Underpowered for what? A dragster, yes they are. For a consumer mid sized truck? No you are quite incorrect.

    All I can say is that the power in the tacoma v6 4.0 is nothing more than adequate. If you want teeth chattering real power step up to the v8 5.7 tundra, but be prepared for the mpg hit. Damn, I miss that engine.

    Like everyone else has said, its a truck. These things are not geared for 0-60 potential, they are geared to haul and tow. If you want a fast truck pick yourself up a used F150 lightning, but don't expect an option for 4x4, extend cab, or crew cab, cause they don't exist.

    I thought that my 2009 had plenty of power. If my 2015 on order drives like it did, I will be very happy. My 2009 was much better and responsive to drive than the 2015 Canyon I'm selling. JMHO

    First car was the 2.7L I4 Avenger, so all i can say is if your downgrading from a 5.0L Mustang to a 4.0L Tacoma for example, your going to see a difference.

    What were you driving before?
    I had a 2010 V6 PreRunner TRD Sport and just bought the same in a 2015.
    Though the specs are the same the 2015 seems to have a better driving feel than the 2010 did.

    I often drop to 4 heading up on ramps/grades just to avoid the gear hunting this truck seems to do in those situations. I don't have a heavy foot. Unless i really punch it and commit, it often acts confused. I think it's normal. My last one did the same thing. Anyone else notice this?

    All depends what your use too. I always wanted more power with my first Gen 4 banger and I felt my gf's 5.7 tundra was too much. V6 feels just right to me. To each his own. If it really bothers you, there are plenty of engine mods you can do to fix that.

    The 5.7L V8 Tundra is pretty rev-happy, but I don't think the truck actually faster than the Taco on the dragstrip.

    Firsts months i feel the truck slow too, now with 4,300 miles feels better and more power, maybe first miles are with limit power :der:

    60% more power and about 25% more weight. It's a little faster ;)

    OP, try premium fuel. My last truck's 4.0L was a whole different animal with it, especially in the low revs. Yes, Toyota says it can safely run on 87, but when that engine came out in 2005 it was initially going to be 91 octane and up. Mine ran quite poorly on the cheap stuff, to the point of a misfire here and there, and knocking when climbing hills.

    Agreed. My 4.0L 2014 knocks on hills with 87. Runs and idles MUCH better on premium.

    I agree. For the first few hundred miles, it felt really slow. I'm at 2,800 miles now and it feels better. It's no rocket, but at least I don't feel like I will get hit merging onto a highway.

    i always felt like these trucks were faster then most:confused:. I have the 6 speed and it puts me in the seat no problem. I feel like it's definitely got more pick up then my 325i did.
