OK, the 3.5 should be a good engine

So the one good thing about Dodge, the Cummins engine, finally gets put into a promising truck and RAM is building it? Outrageous!
    He's quite... Crood.

That's an insult to Nicholas Cage, and I didn't think that could happen!

Mitsubishi and Dodge have had a partnership/partial ownership for years. It weird to see that Nissan went from making trucks for other companies like Suzuki to now having someone else make their trucks for them.

Nissan is coming out with the world version Navarra/Frontier about the same time as the Tacoma. New V6, new interior, new exterior. Google it. Nice looking truck coming to the USA. I'm really not a fan of Nissan but the Infiniti G37 is nice. They have a lot of quality issues on their other products.

Much better looking than the Tacoma.

I didn't think the Global platform is coming to the USA, there were rumors that the Frontier was going a completely different direction, even bringing back the D22 chassis with a modern drivetrain....which really isn't a bad idea...some of us would love a new mini-truck, that got 30 mpg.

If they could do a retro styling like they did with the IDx concept, (think an updated 620)...might be a hot seller.

One can never have too many light bars.
Ram isn't making the new Titan. In 2008 the plan was for Ram and Titan to share a frame but after Chrystler's bankruptcy in 2009 and Ram being bought by Fiat the plan got scrapped. The 5 liter Cummins was designed for the Ram but Fiat was worried that it wasn't fuel efficient enough so they went with the Italian 3 liter.

Well it sure as shit looks like the RAM. I saw it in person at the Dallas Auto Show and that's the first thing I said. The resemblance is DEFINITELY there.

Thank you for this insightful post. They are moving to a common engine platform that works. That is all. Toyota has honed in on the winning formula for power, torque, fuel efficiency, durability, everything. It is no surprise.

Fred Diaz who worked for RAM around the time of the brand breakaway from Dodge, has been with Nissan the past couple years working on the Titan.

Sounds like a few Toyota people have seen this engine and a Mexican article surfaced (from January, so probably not reliable) that have hinted at around 270 HP, but nothing firm yet.

Say it gained 40 HP. Would this feel just like the current Taco (In terms of speed) if it had 40 more HP, or can an engine with 275 HP feel like one with 235 HP based on different tunings? Do you understand what I'm asking?

Might depend on curb weight, gear ratios, etc...

275 HP is more than enough to move a Tacoma the way it currently feels as long as the gearing is done right.

The real question is will the engine be screaming trying to do what the 1GF-RE already does so well.
