There isn't a track around Calgary...

Not excusing there behavior, but other than a drag strip in Edmonton and Medicine Hat there isn't anywhere for them to go play with their toys,

Even still, if you can afford a $200k toy you can afford to travel to race it.

And maybe they will someday build that motorsports park they were talking about a few months back.

If it were a good track it would be awesome to have a Canadian MotoGP event. :woot:

Yeah, I've heard lots of talk of a new track around Calgary but there isn't much financial motosport support in Alberta.

Not to bring this political, but with how controversial building stadiums that will be full of fans is it's hard to argue for a motorsports park that might never see enough people to be used to it's full potential.

I also think in general Canadians aren't as hyped up by stock racing as they are by other things.

    :notsure:

    I never disagreed with you.

However if you have a douchebag exotic car dealer who starts a little league for you to go play with your car in and you have a large rich population, that is rich enough to not care about the law, then that sort of thing is going to happen without a track nearby.

It's not a mitigating factor. When the guy who sells the cars though invites you out to a racing weekend...

Well shit happens. I know some fairly affluent and generous people were caught when the RCMP wrapped things up. I'll try to find the article.

In any case your point is perfectly legitimate. Stupid people will do stupid things even if you provide them the means to avoid them.

Lol, even just searching for street racing in Calgary brings up several articles IN THE LAST YEAR! There's even a link to a forum about how to get in contact with a street racing group.

While you can't eliminate street racing, reopening or replacing the drag strip in Calgary wouldn't hurt the problem at all.

I'm willing to bet more of them would race legally than wouldn't if the opportunity were provided to them. Never all of them though. Just like DUI no matter what rules or assistance you put in place there will always be people who want to operate outside of society and its laws.

I never would of noticed your strong stance on this issue .

I don't personally support any activity where people put other people's lives in danger for their own gain or thrills. That being said I would support reopening or building a new motorsports park in the Calgary area in hopes that it will encourage legal racing and public enjoyment.

Often in a car accident people get a second chance. If you wreck a bike, well, if you live you might wish you were dead.
