Just polished off a compression test results look fine to this guy.

    Cyl 1 175
    Cyl 2 175
    Cyl 3 175
    Cyl 4 180
    Cyl 5 175
    Cyl 6 175

    Performed on a cool engine

Cant determine location of sound on the engine using a screw driver to listen (used this method to locate spun rod bearing on a legacy) changed oil again after 150km no shavings or notable water content. Noise has not progressed or decreased new plugs show good a/f burn. Havnt popped the exhaust apart yet to check cats didnt sound notable while i was under there. Its rather strange i can replicate it on initial rev but its not a constant.

I'm adding about 12 ounces of MMO during oil changes since my truck went over 100k mikes and the engine is noteably quieter at startup ... I put the rest of the bottle in the gas tank.

The oil level is over the full mark but I've never known those dipsticks to be absolutely accurate.
No issues so far (over 600 miles) but I have a quick valve if I need to adjust the oil level fast

Not saying that this would solve your issue but MMO never damaged a reciprocating engine I have worked on

Has the mpg dropped off ?

Agreed, compression numbers look good and even.

Is the noise most noticeable when the throttle is first depressed, at "float" once revved up, or on the deceleration?

Is it noticeable when under load while driving, coasting, or declerating?

New issue spuring up seems completely intermitent so far. Every once in awhile it will refuse to crank over. Doesnt soutter just 0 crank. No immobilizer flash, after awhile it will spark right up. Plan to pull the starter clean the terminals and bench test it. Is there a relay that could of gotten buggered up?

Sounds like you did everything by the book.........except submerge your rig. And because of your quick thinking you were able to avoid disaster. A starter is nothing. An engine on the other hand would be another matter. Hopefully people will read this thread and learn how to properly react to this kind of thing and save some serious money and heartache. Good luck.

So fuel economy has remained the sane no noises have increased or decreased im summing it up to a gremlin of sorts that ill deal with if it gets worse. But 1000km after becoming a submarine it runs fine short of the phantom (float) noise and a sketchy starter. Id say this is a fairly good display of the abuse these engines are capable of dealing with. Having said that i feel i dealt with everything on point for the situation which helpedin saving it. So some advice to any new taco wheelers out there be mechanicaly inclined if your going out and have tools on hand. Also only be as brave as your truck allows my lesson has been learned. If anything progresses over time ill update this thread.

the video loaded up this time where I could hear the noise when revving

Just a thought ... take the serpentine belt off and start it up and if the noise goes away then it might be a pulley bearing, junk in your alternator or compressor clutch

    Serpentine belt slipping ?

OH, good call on the serpentine belt. Just having a glazed or otherwise "different" area on the belt from chemicals or whatever can result in annoying noise.
