Anyone have any plans for June 6th? I want to take a trip to Rausch or some offroad park for a day to break the taco in.

 

My truck is at the dealer getting inspected. I'll report their findings. I went from 1/2 a tank to 1/4 in 43 miles with CC at 65mph

 

While running Premium.

 

^^A/C on uphill full bed load pulling a trailer would be acceptable^^ leadfoot

 

There's talk of a multi day trip up there 3rd week of July

 

Lol so according to the dealership, something is up, but it's not at total fail so they can't replace it until it gets worse.....

 

Do they know what the problem is

 

The second cat but it's not a complete failure so they won't replace it until it gets worse.... I might be working something out tomorrow though I'll keep you all posted.

 

Have they checked for codes? IIRC running really rich is usually what leads to cat failure/melting, and tacoma engines tend to run a bit richer than they should to begin with..... Outside of that, maybe you have a leaking injector or one that's staying open to long, could also be an issue with the downstream O2 sensor going bad and causing it to run rich?

 

I have no clue. I'm going back up there tomorrow to straighten all this mess up one way or another.

 

Just throwing ideas out, but IMO you should have seen a check engine light before now if this has gotten to the point of melting the cats again

Hmm.... Is your exhaust stock or is it an aftermarket/modified one?

 

Maybe this will teach you to stay out of the mud?

I'm honestly at a loss, if the dealership can't fix it, I'd try and see if you can find somone with the proper tool to read the contents of your exhaust, and go from there

 

Lol its a 4cly all the exhaust are the same

 

Lol they could fix it if the change out the part that is semi failing. I've been debating a cat delete for since the first time it happened
