    Hello guys/gals,

Just looking to see if anyone has had any luck painting the "TRD" lettering on center caps a different color. If so, what's your weapon of choice and any photos of the end result?

I've looked at plasti dip, model car paint, and a paint pen but wanted to get a few opinions before moving forward.

    I appreciate any info/suggestions!

I haven't done center caps but have done other similar things with recessed letters. Clean them really good then use whatever you can to scuff the gloss off of the area you want to paint. Like fine sandpaper on the end of a small stick, etc. Clean it again. With the part of a flat surface apply paint with a small brush. If the letters are small enough you can use the end of a paper match as a brush just like when fixing a rock chip. Overload the brush a bit and the paint will flow from the brush into the recessed area. When using a rattle can I just spray the paint into the can's cap then dip your brush into that.

I would suggest using a small paint brush. If i ever have to repaint mine that's how i'll go about it.

I did my center caps MGM. I took painter tap and put it across the cap. I then took a razor blade and carefully cut out the lettering. Spray painted the exposed lettering and then clear coat.

Here's a pic I just took. My caps had a lil red overspray, so I used a sharpie. That's the shinny stuff on the edge of the lettering. It's been a yr and a half with some good offroading

Nicely done @916TacoTruck ... looks like it has held up pretty well. You mentioned you cut out the lettering, are they merely an adhesive or were they painted on?

Sorry, when I said cut out the lettering I meant since the letters are recessed on the cap and having tape over it, all I had to do was use a razor blade to cut the tape exposing the red letters to paint them. The tape stayed on the rest of the cap so I could paint.

It doesn't look bad at all. It's just personal preference for me. Being from Georgia, I certainly see a lot of red so figured I'd change things up a bit.

Just an update: I ended up using a paint pen on the center caps. It's held up in the rain so far but it'll be interesting to see as time progresses. Especially after the first bath. Have a safe and happy 4th, TW!
