    Performance- bored .20 over, Doug Thorely Headers, Magnaflow Exhaust, and K&N cold air intake. Exterior- Trail Gear Solid Axle Swap, ARB compressor, high pinion 4.88 with ARB locker, 4.88 TRD Locker in the rear. Interior- 2 10inch JL W1 subs, Alpine MRX-V70 amp, Alpine type R SPR 17C 6x6 speaker in the back, Focal 165 VR with crossover tweeter up front, and Weather Tech floor mats.

    Does it go away after it warms up?

    Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
    The 2.7l has a chain and DOHC. There is a spring loaded gear on the exhaust cam (I think) that was designed to remove the famous "Toyota Tap" that was prevelant in the 22r series motors. I might suggest changin oil to synthetic if you don't run it already.

    Switching to synthetic with high mileage on the motor is a wives tale. I switched mine out at 120k on my first gen (Amsoil). Never had an issue. It settled the motor down (made it smoother in tone) and was quieter. It is an option you may want to explore. Try it for one cycle and see what happens. If you aren't pleased then swithc back.

    Thanks for the advice but i run Mobil 1 already. mines a V6 dont think i said that yet.

    Hmmm by buddies did that and it was the oil pump, but i really couldnt tell you.

    Yeah there Noisy Motor, The 3.4 not as bad as the 2.7L, but try adding a Qt or Lucas Oil Stabilizer. every couple oil changes.

    I dont think thats a good idea. It thickens up the oil, makeing it harder for the oil to get into the tight spaces.

    Idk, I used it on my 22R like every 4th Oil change, and do the Same on the 2.7L I have now with 150k. but it also makes the Oil Sticky... I mean Most of us run 5w30 right? and the 2.7L takes 5qts...

    So im not sure about the math but 4qts of Mobil1 5w30 and 1qt Of the Oil Stabilozer cant be that bad. Especialy on a Motor with alot of miles that could benefit from the Extra Sticky Quality's.

    I used Amsoil 2000 in my 2.7L. It had around 150k when she went bye-bye. Switching from conventional to that really quieted it up and smoothed it out. I switched around the 120k mark.

    The one thing i have noticed in the 22re, is the amount of sludge I have found. If you guys have ever done the timing chain replacement maybe you have seen it behind the chain tensioner. It was the consistency of petroleum jelly but black.

    Too late. I am not ripping her back a part for that. I have her cleaned up pretty good now. She has 128k on her and everything looked real clean (wear wise) except for the sludge here and there. I think I will run some "good" conventional in her for a feww hundred then swap her to synthetic.
