As the muffler breaks in it will get louder. Mine sounds much deeper now than it did initially. I like it.

Interesting. I've had mine for about 1500 miles now, and it's quieter now than when it was new. I agree that it sounds way better, just for me that means it's not nearly as obnoxious as it used to be. It is deeper, yes, but the actual volume has definitely declined. I was originally on the fence about it...now i love it.

Take a small screw driver and pry up on the rubber a little bit to get the dish soap in there. Once the soap has been worked it, it will slip off/on easy.

I don't think it adds any horsepower but it sure is fun to smash the pedal now.

I agree! I think it adds maybe 1 or 2. I love the low growl when you turn the key...

Nah I was playing around. If there are any actual gains I assume it will be a few pounds of torque, wouldn't be noticeable.
Supercharger is on the list for next year if all goes well

whiskey - how's the exhaust note this week?

I did mine today and it's a completely different sound and yeah, louder than I thought it would be. I really like it.

The note is great. On long drives it gets a little louder at highway speeds, and really growls when I push it up a hill.

However I do need to put that copper gasket maker on the pipe gasket to seal it a little better. Sounds like a slight leak under load.

I'd bet the flange on the TRD exhaust system wasn't welded on perfectly square to the pipe.

All good feedbacks so far, i was deciding between the Flowmaster vs the TRD. I ad the flowmaster on my FJC and loved its perfect rumble. I will do a search in youtube if they have how the TRD sounds like.

Woke up early this morning and cleaned off the exhaust pipe connections and gasket. Applied layer of copper RTV to the gasket and exhaust pipe, and it seems to have made a subtle difference. I have a new OEM gasket in the mail, but it won't get here before I do a few days of hard driving. Definitely noticed a leak once the whole system was heated up pretty well.

Do the gasket the first time, save yourself a hassle later.

It never hurts to change the gasket. Prevents from re-doing your work.

I usually get someone to plug the pipe with a few rags while I listen to the flange in question, it will usually tell you if it's leaking if it gets louder. That's just me.. I personally done like putting any RTV on exhaust flanges, it just makes for a messy job in my opinion. (I'm new on here so take my words with a grain of salt)

Had TRD on my Pro from the factory....not bad on the highway, but cruising the mt. roads where it sat around 2k or so it was flat annoying....swapped out to stock exhaust...annoying moan is gone (guess it be an old guy thing)...used the same seal with no issues as it is more like an o-ring shaped item vs. a normal flat gasket. Also only had 1200 miles on the truck. For whatever reason the drone is more noticeable on the 4drs than it is on the ACLB's...also much more noticeable if you put a shell on a DCSB

I test drove a2015 DCSB 4x4 Off road with the trd exhaust. While the "tone" was ok, it was way to loud for me. I like a quite cab.
I also am a old guy. Now if I was in my 20's, I would most likely think it sounds sweet.
