    Not how to, but why?

Lots of threads on 'I just want to level'. Or 'I want to lift and level'

So why the desire to level? Is it for looks? Any functional value?

Reason I ask is I think about why the rake is there to begin with. I mean there has to be some engineering logic.

    Wind resistance (mpg?).

Better handling when the bed is loaded (therefore leveling the truck, instead of over lightening the front end)

    Other?

I think of my last street driven race car, which was lowered enough I had to drive it onto 3" ramps to get a race jack under it. It had a 1/2 rake from the factory. When I took that rake out with the adjustable coilovers, handling suffered and my track times tanked, even though the weight distribution had a slight improvement. I put the rake back in and never took it out again.

Yeah, I know we're talking truck, not sports car. ;-)

    Just curious.

    Looks over functionality

It's for people that never use the bed for hauling loads or tow
