Hi everyone, just traded in my 2014 2-Dr Rubicon for a 2013 Tacoma TRD (auto with T/X package)

    I love it!

Now there's more to the story, for sure...

I bought my Jeep last year (also test drove some Tacomas at the time), I had the "permission slip" to get whatever I wanted. I've been a longtime Jeep guy so what the heck. Anyway, my 2-Dr 6-spd Wrangler just couldn't cut it for ever hauling anything work, or the kids, and my wife doesn't drive a stick... so there goes that. I was able to get permission for a "mulligan!"

I drove a ton of cars but ultimately couldn't justify never being able to leave the pavement. Full size trucks are outrageously expensive, and not as much fun in my opinion.

So I found this 2013 Tacoma, only 12K, loaded for the most part, everything except Navigation I think.

The very next day I jumped in with some of my work buddies and their Jeeps to go test it out. The trails ended up being more than I wanted to get in to, but I was committed at that point. The Tacoma did great, for the most part. It's got BFG Rugged Trails with about half tread left, not really an offroad tire by any means. That and ground clearance were my enemy.

Unfortunately, I put some dents and scratches on my rocker panels. I felt so bad, apologized to her all the way home. Rock rails are #1 on the list. Down the road, lift and tires.

I certainly won't wheel this thing like I have my Jeeps, but I will still take it out and use it like it's meant for. And I'll be comfortable driving on the highway and also have a second "family" vehicle if need be.

Looking forward to exploring a new forum, by the way!Taco 1.jpg Taco 2.jpg

You can have the best of both worlds with your Tacoma. A nice daily driver and a very capable weekend warrior. Just don't go too overboard on the build! Plus, maintenance costs are a lot less and resale value is much better than the JK.
