Magsrgod's 08 DC Audio Build

Going to document a few of the things I did in this build in this thread. I already have some of the wires run and equipment installed so I wont have any pictures of them but their all documented really well up to this point!

Equipment
HU - Alpine W265BT, I really wanted the USB / Aux port on the front and this was clutch for it. - Installed
Amp - Zed Leviathan - Installed
Sub - ID IDQ10
Sub box - Mr Marv special
Speaker baffles - Mr Marv special - Installed
Front Speakers - RE Audio XXX 6.5 Comps. These things are beasts, I'll get some pictures of them in the thread and any door mods I had to do to fit them. - Installed
Rear Speakers - Kicker 40CS654
Sound Deadening - RAM Audio Package 1 - Installed
Wires and fuses - Various KnuKonceptz - Installed
RCA - Stinger 6 channel SI4617 - Installed

When all said and done this should be pretty damn loud with a ton of mid bass and some fairly good low end! This weekend I will be installing the Amp, Front door speakers and Sound Deadening.

 

Routing cables in the Tacoma is super easy, I routed the remote on the driver side which is the easier of the 2 sides. I decided to route the RCA's on the passenger side since I bought 17' cables. Here are some pictures with what I did, super simple.

First remove the glove box and this becomes easy mode. You can see the light from where the HU has been removed. I used about a 3ft section of 18awg wire to fish the heads through the cavity. This was a 6 head RCA and I did 2 heads at a time, it took about 5 minutes to get all of them through.



Pass each pair of heads through the center of where the HU should be, its the gap between the plastic and the pipe. I had to do 2 at a time, I was unable to get all 6 though in one shot.



Everything out smoothly. Then I routed the RCAs so they would be behind the glove box and behind a couple of brackets for secure holding. Then it was down the sides as normal.

I took a dremel and cur down the 3 rails on the door, this made for a just a little more clearance for the excursion of the driver.

 

Used to love those Zed audio amps

 

The Zed is going to be a monster, especially pushing those XXX comps at 2 Ohm

 

Yeah their nice, They had allot of internal signal problems before resulting in POOOFED mids but if you have the 3rd gen you should be ok. These mids will get pretty loud and relatively clear and give rather good mid bass for a 6.5

 

Its a 3rd gen, so all should be good!

 

Overall the Tacoma is pretty easy to put a stereo into. I cant wait to get the sub box!

 

True up to a certain point. 4gauge and smaller wires will route anywhere in cab with ease. I got tired of the tight squeeze with oversized 2/0 that I just ran it along the chassis. Now I don't have to rip out the entire interior just to change/add power wire.

 

I ran 4 runs of over sized 2/0 through my truck with no problems, it took some effort but was worth it.
When i had my battery bank in the truck box, i did run them along the frame , through the box to the batteries, then power to the amps through the box again into the rear vent of the cab

 

I got the Amp temporarily mounted today today until I get the sub box in. Everything fit perfect and the 6.5" driver which has a 4" mounting depth cleared the window when it was fully down. Now to get the fronts tuned!
